Eggman has been doing this constantly for a while now. I'm not sure if it started in the games or in the anime, but game-wise he's been seen laughing like this since Sonic Unleashed.

That said, he's the only other male I've seen that does this.

[up] Got a clip of it?

Yeah, it's one of those almost-always-female tropes. I've seen some men do it, but they're generally traps, effeminate, or are in one way or another trying to evoke that.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.

The only male examples I have seen are Camp Gay or Crossdressing.

The Male Shugo Chara example on the page is not this

That's amazingly theatrical though. Maybe that's what we need to keep the misuse off this page. A supertrope for over the top theatrical laughter.

Well, there's also Evil Laugh, which is kind of related. I think the above is more that than this.

And when Flea laughs in Chrono Trigger, he also does the gesture.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

Yikes. Robotnik is some sort of rotund mustachioed Naga!

Since I have no idea what an oujo is, I object to using that as a name.

The Ojou... The character type that uses this almost exclusively. (outside Crossdressers trying to invoke The Ojou) To the point Eggman might be the only one who isn't... Which is probably intentional or even a parody.

[up]x4 Flea is a Crossdresser who acts like a The Ojou... For sure fits

Which, again, half the people on this wiki don't know about since we aren't otaku. Seriously, this is why the page Fan Myopia was created.

So are we in agreement on rename, or do we need a rename crowner?

[up][up] Well the current name is getting misuse because it is not referencing the character type it is connected to.

Which do you want? Misused with a name that is kinda accurate but far too broad and general of a name for the trope or an accurate name that is spot on that won't get misused.

[up] We can always Take a Third Option.

At any rate, I don't think that replacing "noblewoman" with "oyou" is going to be an improvement.

This seems to be stuck in deadlock mode, shall we call it for "no action" or wait for a few more days?

OK, now it's going in the "rename" direction. Anyone who hasn't registered an opinion yet?

Crown Description:

Noblewomans Laugh is being misused for "noble women who laugh". It in fact describes a specific laugh ("O-ho-ho-ho!"), associated with the Oujo character type.
