Yeah, that's the best FMA image so far. Swap on the crowner?

I don't like it. It's unfocused and busy, and it has unnecessary extra panels.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

I'm not sure where you see the unnecessary extra panels. They all demonstrate the trope. Powerful motions that result in the magic hitting the target from afar.

I don't think any of the specific panels in that sequence is unnecessary, but that more than one panel in general can be extraneous.

It seems kind of hard to tell what's going on in the firebending pic - there's no sense of what direction Zuko is moving. And when we want to make the difference between this trope, Kung-Fu Wizard and Supernatural Martial Arts more clear, giving an example of all three at the same time is not a good idea.

Armstrong looks good, with Subaru 2-4, 3-4 or 2-3-4 as my second choice (pic 1 is unrelated to this trope).

Excellent point.

Can someone explain to me what's going on in the FMA image? I came into the thread late but just looking at it I'm not sure what's happening in it. It's very busy and rather confusing.

Yeah, it's not great. I don't think any of the options are particularly good, actually. He's punching the ground, which causes the ground to turn into spikes.

@FMA - Well, he punches the ground and spikes come out of his fist. Regarding Firebender pic, at least as I see it, the relationship between his motion and fire isn't as clear.

Bump for votes; as of right:

  • Sequence of Nanoha images: 3◊, 4◊: 4 (yeas:11 nays:7) 1.57 : 1
  • Full Metal Alchemist◊ manga page: 4 (yeas:14 nays:10) 1.40 : 1
  • Firebending◊: 2 (yeas:13 nays:11) 1.18 : 1

The rest are in the red.

The first frame on the leading Nanoha image adds, like, literally nothing.

Have to agree there. There is very little sense of movement between the two images.

Same with the first and third panels on the FMA pic.

Really, is there any reason to have more than one image on this page? We can easily get it in one frame.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

This one's ready to call. The new pic is up, recycling the old pothole and caption, and the Image Links page is up. Locking up.
