Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.

The inscription in the bottom-left reads:

I'm having trouble figuring out the grammar of this, but here's my attempt at translation anyway.

First translation, being extremely loose with grammar: "Stars, moon, all were struck / you abandoned me in darkness / not at dawn nor day, I am always the twilight / with your heart in shadow"

More literal translation: "Stars, moon, at all to be struck / abandoned you me in darkness / not at dawn, not at day, I am always twilight / in shadow you at heart." I think there might be some grammatical errors, since I can't figure out how some of those words fit together in the cases they're in.

I don't think my version of the runic font has a "q"... I'll have to see if there's an update.

Your first translation pretty much nailed it. I checked it back and a forth a few times through Google Translate, but I'm surprised there aren't more errors, really. The lines are supposed to read: "The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out/You left me in the dark/No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight/In the shadow of your heart". Google them along with Madoka and see what comes up. And congratulations, I am indeed impressed. :D

Ah, glad to see my translation was something close. Google Translate tends to mangle Latin, though, so I'll see if I can give a better translation.

Since it's Latin, the word order is fairly free, so you can change a few things without altering the meaning; for example, you could just as easily say "me in tenebris reliquisti" or "sum semper in hoc crepusculum". (It just changes the emphasis.)

The only substantial (i.e., non-grammar) change I made is to use the verb "restinguere" instead of "elidere". If you check the linked meanings, you'll see why; I couldn't find an exact counterpart for the expression "blow out", but it's close.

Wow. Really good chapter. On a first reading, I have no complaints. I'm once again struck by how effective your descriptive prose is at setting an atmosphere or an emotion.

The first demon is so cute! I want to take it home with me!

Also, Kagami using a bokken vaguely reminds me of Shu in Now And Then Here And There. (Though of course she has the good fortune to be in a much nicer setting. You may be an evil bastard, but you're not that cruel.)
