Didn't the previous image picking thread for this trope have a Highlander screenshot of Mc Leod in modern times standing in front of an ancient bust that was clearly portraying him? I really liked that one.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdThink that was from TMNT...
That is good.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. The anime Highlander picture works pretty well.
Reaction Image RepositoryI vote for the Highlander anime picture due to my own fan myopia and the fact that it needs more love. It's the second best Highlander movie and no one has even heard of it.
I lean toward the anime Highlander one, for conciseness' sake if nothing else.
Can we switch, or does anyone not like the choice?
You are a blowfish.I really like it myself. So dunno.
I'll go ahead and swap it. We don't have to go with it in the long run, but it's better than the pink-hair, orange-hair Just A Face And A Caption thing that we have going on now.
You are a blowfish. The Highlander anime image is far better than we have any right to expect to find. It could not be a more perfect fit for this trope.
I still like the movie Highlander pic better. The anime one is a bit busy.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. What was the previous image?
Belief or disbelief rests with you.
This◊ Caption was something like "Left: Washu at the creation of the universe. Right: Washu today."
Oh and the Highlander anime one is fine by me.

It was either a penguin or a panda, but the choice is far less black and white than you would think! The suggested works surprisingly well.
Edit: Oh, it's already switched. I got nothing for a caption, though.

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!I agree with taking that one down.
It's only fair to have a crowner though for the Highlander pictures. Film v anime.
As I read things to this point, we've got two (three?) votes for the movie version and nine for the anime version. That's enough consensus for me to say we run with the anime version, but I can set up a crowner if that's what it takes.
Heck, I suggested the film version, and even I gotta concede the anime one is better. Still, if people wanna make a crowner, can always do it, that way no one can latter say we didn't follow procedure.

Both works. I'm fine either way, even if I prefer the other one.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Alright, I've added the page tag. However, after reading the trope page, I'm starting to wonder if we've missed the essence of the trope, which (from the description) is about really old characters that have the bodies of children or teenagers, where the pic seems to work better for Older Than They Look.
No, I think we've got it right.
From Older Than They Think: "When science fiction or fantasy takes this trope to its illogical extreme, it leads to Really 700 Years Old or a Time Abyss."
And then: "Remember, this trope only covers characters who aren't impossibly old, just much older than they look. For characters who are impossibly old, see Really 700 Years Old and Time Abyss."
That being said, it seems like Really 700 Years Old could be described better.
This part: "And what better way is there to hide your identity and throw off suspicion than by taking on the form of a perky prepubescent girl who looks like she's barely out of elementary school?" is totally at odds with everything else. It's probably an artifact from what I think this trope used to be about, which was people saying it's okay to like watching prepubescent anime characters because they were "really 700 years old."

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I agree that the description should not focus too much on prepubescent girls. Example As Thesis is bad definition writing. That may be one example of the way the trope manifests, but really any person that looks like a normal human but is substantially older than the human lifespan should qualify.
The laconic puts it best: Impossibly ancient character who looks much younger.

Man, this should've been closed way back. Locking up.
Works for me.
