Okay, so far so good. Like the character dynamics, love the Doc, like that this wasn't just a random time jump which will keep it from becoming just a criminal-of-the-week show. Doesn't hurt that the heroine looks like a young Jodie Foster. Is it wrong that when she was trying to get those blood stains out of her shirt that I was fixated on her cleavage?

I don't know if that's wrong or not, but I do know that you're not the first guy to do this, and you won't be the last!

This show looks like it could go in some interesting directions. That part there about the mass breakout from Alcatraz could make for a long plotline. There were like, what, over 100 prisoners there? You could have a show that could last for a long time, especially if it focuses on one escaped prisoner per episode!

The big question is is how are the prisoners freaking time travelling? I'm going to watch a few more of it to generally get a feel of the show because right now it seems to be a weekly cops and robbers

Well, the two prisoners so far were interesting case studies but I think I like the conspiracy aspect of things better.

I didn't feel it. I thought the characters were kinda boring, and it bothered me that they somehow knew the sniper was one of their guys but didn't explain how.

Question is, is Sam Neil awesome as usual in this show?

Yes. But his character is a thoroughgoing jerkass. In fact I like all three main characters but "Doc" Soto is my favorite so far.

Is it me, or does it seem like the Warden was cloned off of Arkham's Warden/Mayor Sharp? Not just the appearance, but the affectations and 'above it all' approach.

More likely that they're both based on the same historical character/archetype. Don't ask me who, I couldn't say. But that's what I figure, given that both universes have strong 30's detective fiction pastiche elements to them.

Dead crows, three victims, and one was a teenage girl. All of which sort of works against the "No MO" line. In fact that's what bothered me with that episode. The guy had an MO, but it wasn't the one they espoused. They said "3 Victims a day for 3 days, then he disappears." Well, no. When they showed his past victims he had 3 here, five there, four here, in cities far enough apart to make it difficult to piece together any 3 per day for 3 days type MO. Then there was a teenage girl in each lot which is sort of freaking obvious. Just way too much wierdness with that guy. That and the Lego firearms.

I don't really care, I love the guy.

Yes. But his character is a thoroughgoing jerkass.
"Which hand does he shoot with?" "Right." BLAM "No more shooting."

The first three episodes have me interested enough that I'll give it half a season. If they decide to start dropping some real hints about what's really going on I'll probably stay with it. If it's bad guy of the week with the tossing in tiny little half clues about the behind the scenes stuff with the time travel, no thanks.

With Terra Nova getting axed while having 10.1 million viewers things don't look good for Alcatraz. It declined to 5.47 million viewers by episode 9. It's only saving grace is it's likely cheaper to make than TN.

The big thing is the cost. What's the cost per episode for those viewers. I'm willing to bet that even with half the audience Alcatraz is a better investment than TN.
