He's a better person because he cheers on the rape and violence of OWS?

If you take away Oakland (which is... just Oakland, really), the vast majority of violence at the OWS protests was caused and initiated by police officers, so...

Hey, when Roseanne becomes president and executes people for being rich, will she include him in that?

1) Who the fuck is Roseanne?

2) What kind of ridiculous strawman is this shit?

"Shit, our candidate is a psychopath. Better replace him with Newt Gingrich."

There's a lot of rich liberal Hollywood celebrities. Limousine liberals are funny, I think.

Remind me again how many "Hollywood Liberals" have run for and achieved political office? Now remind me how many Hollywood conservatives have? (protip: One of them became the President of the United States of America and served two terms and another was the Governator of California until recently.)

I think he meant Rosie O'Donnell.

which is kind of hilarious because no sane liberal is going to vote for Rosie.

Lessee...the statements have been made and the explanations given for WHY our judgments of Buffet are not based on his political leanings. These explanations have been completely ignored in favour of groundlessly accusing us of bias.

Roseanne. You know, the actress/comedian. She had a sitcom. I thought everyone knew who Roseanne was. No, I'm not a troll. I get sick of this shit and get bored of it easily, but I'm pointing out under the vague premise that most rich people are bad and shady, why isn't somebody because they support the left. I know there's lots of conservatives who are better at debates than me because I get bored of them easily.

I'll admit It's not like I've never envied anything. But someone being rich, they're not all Bernie Madoffs. If someone works hard to become rich, they shouldn't be ashamed of it, because it's something to aspire to. It shouldn't just be...assumed they're bad. Now the government, they're screwing people over, but that's another story.

[down][down] The party as a whole...You know, a lot of Republicans aren't rich. But according to the Democrats we're self-hating. Which is an extremely haughty thing to say.

..who in their right mind would nominate Roseanne Barr to anything?

and most rich people are people, same as other people. Thats why their excesses need to be reined in, not celebrated.

It's not just that he's supporting the left in this case, though. It's that he's generally been benevolent and genuinely sincere about his beliefs about what the rich should do. The Democrat thing is just how he's stated that he votes. It's a small part of the whole package. And is less important than his calling out the Republicans on their behavior. It's not even the specifically rich Republicans he called out, but the party as a whole.

Dude, I'm like, 17. I don't watch stuff like that.

Also, who the hell said she should be President of the United States?! Because that's bloody idiotic, I tell you...

OK, so a show that hasn't been on since I was 4. Where did that come from? Also, as I said, we don't think that he's a good person for being on the left, we think he's a good person for thinking that the rich should help the rest of the country instead of lording it all to themselves.

I know who she is. I just don't think she'd ever seriously run for President. Or that anyone would seriously vote for her. She's a red herring distraction that doomsday threw at us. It's an argument that doesn't make sense because he didn't name a serious Democratic candidate, thus the argument falls apart. Not that it was much of one to begin with.

though th mental image of roseanne acreaming at firing squads to shoot at rich people would make for a hilariously bad b movie.

premise that most rich people are bad and shady
WHO'S SAID THAT? Sounds like there's an implicit premise that people with liberal leanings hate the rich. That's one meme that needs to die.

Yeah, you're right about the So Bad, It's Good b-movie potential in that. Roseanne is running for President under the Green Party. She also made attention for a comment about the rich that she made that they should be re-educated or executed. Look it up if you want. I'm 20(shocker). Didn't watch Roseanne before it was cancelled, but reruns of it still comes on today on multiple channels.

You realize that the Green Party has approximately no political significance, right? To say that one nutjob who ran for president (which literally anyone at least 35 years of age can do) in a party that nobody cares about said some stupid shit doesn't mean that all liberals believe it.

Sounds like there's an implicit premise that people with liberal leanings hate the rich.

I think I may be semi-guilty here, with my generalized usage of the term "plutarch."

Granted, I usually take it as understood that if you know what the word means, you know the more complex position behind it, i.e. that rich people aren't inherently evil, so much as they are allowed too much power and allowed to give in to their baser habits (i.e. human selfishness) by society at large. Among other things.

Edit:

Roseanne is running for President under the Green Party. She also made attention for a comment about the rich that she made that they should be re-educated or executed.

You do realize that nobody takes the Green Party seriously, right? Mostly because a lot of us on the liberal bent know full well a vote for the green party means the republicans win the election. So we sort of ignore them.

@Doom,

Warren Buffett is not likely to be a Villain with Good PR because unlike say, Murdock, investing in derivatives, speculating in the stock market and such, Warren Buffett's famed for amassing his fortune WITH HIS OWN MONEY.

His need for PR at the start of his journey to be a mogul is minimal. Being famous would not help him buy any more than the Mr. Unknown.

He mostly built it in a lifetime of careful investing and frugal living. That sort of fiscal skill/discipline is admirable, and while it has no inherent moral "good" or "bad", remember that Original Post was about his willingness to donate to the National Debt, to match that of Republicans and 3X that for one in particular (who I do not know and do not undertand WHY this person is being singled out by Buffett)

Buffett's legacy will likely be one of charity more than his massive foture.

How is he evil?

@ Flyboy: My issue was that there's too much conflation of "hate the rich" and "want the rich to pay their fair share", and people have to stop acting like those two things are the same. It pisses me off.

This. We dont hate the rich. We hate that rich people seem to think that the point to being rich is to proceed to stack the deck in your favor to prevent anyone else from succeeding and taking any of your amassed pie collection.

OK, that movie has to be made now. To re-rail this thread, yeah, nobody (except my dadsad) takes the Greens seriously. They seem to exist purely to make the Democrats look more moderate

[down]In other words, we treat them like we treat the regular tea party.

The Green party is sort of like the libera Tea Party. except liberals pay them zero attention and consider them idiots.

They have okay ideals at root..but they dont seem to comprehend political/economic realities well enough to be any help to their own cause.

Well, I think the Green's very basic ideas are pretty good ones. It's just that they don't seem to have put any effort into expanding or clarifying on that in the years they've been around. Now, possibly getting more Greens into offices would force them to work on such a thing, but I'd rather they actually work on that shit before running for office.

Anyway, yeah, the whole time we've been talking with you, Doomsday, we've been saying we don't hate the rich. We hate specific rich people who have rigged the system in their favor. The people we don't like also tend to be associated with the Republican party, by their own choice, rather than the Democrats. Believe me, if the corrupt businessmen were bribing the Democrats instead of the Republicans, and the stupidity was coming from the Democrats mainly, this board would be filled with praise for the Republicans.

Basically, the association has happened because of who's allied themselves with who.
