Today, while reading the lecture script, I realized that my optimization lecture sucks not just because the lecturer doesn’t seem to be interested in engaging his students, but because the script sucks a##. Definitions that aren’t motivated or explained further, but immediately used in a proof? Calculations that start out at a point where the reader has to wonder how you even get there to begin with? At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if an “easy” theorem (which might even be wrong) is explained to be “trivial and left as an exercise to the reader
