There are some sweet lolita outfits I've seen that I like a lot, but I think gothic looks better in general.

Gothic Lolita is a bit of an umbrella term in the West, though, even if it means specifically primarily black lacy dresses in Japan and amongst the dedicated. Similar dresses in white are called "Pure Lolita" and pastels are "Sweet Lolita", off the top of my head.
