I just built the serpent armor but it didn't show up in my inventory. I could still build the guns though. Guess even if you don't activate Alien Hunters mid-game you still have to kill the alien rulers to get their armor.

I still lost the resources used to make the thing though. Lame.

It occurs to me

So the Vipers are all female coz the Elders locked the male part away in their gene. Okay. And the male viper doesn't spit venom but cold.

The Thin Men spit venom. And the Speaker's an advanced thin men.

Is the Speaker's a female?

I mean, the human part is just a disguise, the Ethereals don't need him to be genetically male.

Funny how the final mission on my Impossible run is going easier than it did on my normal run. Might have to do with me now knowing that my Avatar's mind control is reusable unlike my psyker's domination. And also that my psyker is basically just there to use Inpsire on my Avatar.

At least that's what I though. Turns out it's because all the alien pods were just huddling together. Right outside the final room I just triggered 4 pods, totaling at 4 mutons, 2 andromedons, 2 Codices, and 2 Gatekeepers. Imma just save here and see if I can cheese my way out of this one tomorrow.

Okay so I was able to cheese my way out of that via lucky dice rolls. So there I am, right outside the final room, got a full squad at full health/consumables, a dominated gatekeeper with 4 psi zombies. Good to go yes?

Well for the most part yes. I was able to take out the first avatar and his group just fine. Things started to get dicey as I struggled to bring down the other two who are both active now. Reinforcements kept coming in until there was like 18 enemies active. Well through a very generous spamming of AOE abilities/items I was able to reduce it down to like 5 enemies in one turn. No enemies are flanking me either, good.

Then the game just drops all pretense of being fair and double warps in a pod of mecs/sectopod and a trio of codices. Right behind me. While all my abilities are on cooldown and I'm out of 'nades and beacons.

This is bullshit. Is there any trick to beating this last room? 'cuz the avatars won't stay in weapon range long enough to end the mission early.

[up][up]Can't really say, I was playing in Veteran difficulty and got a lucky Repeater shot on overwatch, before unleashing everything I had left on the last avatar (ignoring their cohorts).

^^Thats because rage suit doesn't have a helmet. Its just a muscle suit basically.

Only unit it looks good is probably developer character pool units since some of those are really ridiculous :D I think I gave it to one nicknamed Rambo

Well I did it. Impossible run done. Good thing I had a save from right before I activated the avatars.

For the most part I just stuck to the entrance bridge. It worked on the first avatar, but the other two just kept in the back corner of the room. Literally, my game bugged out and removed the fog so I saw them both running around in circles. It kept going on like that till I got lucky enough to hack a sectopod. It was a life saver. It aggro'd the avatars outside their hiding spot, drew fire, and laid down enough fire to wreck the loads of enemies. I still had to focus exclusively on them to win, but I did it.

And now I get to try it again on Ironman! Good lord have mercy.

I met the Archon King again tonight. It was in a good position to kill him, but since it was a council mission, I was afraid I would have to leave the body behind in the evac, so I chose to let him escape instead.

The alien ruler corpses are picked up no matter the mission. Just like the codex brains and avatar body.

Apparently Firaxis leaked accidently in SDK the name of Shen's Last Gift new class. They're called SPARK ME Cs.

YES!

That DLC cant come soon enough, when is "Summer"?

I am estimating that it will be Jully 16th to fit with the current pattern, but is that "summer"?

With all the weapon model mods running around, I am disappointed that there isn't one for the old-school psi-amp. The only psi-amp mode I've seen is one that removes the object altogether.

Edit: I also wish web browsers would switch to from linear interpolation to nearest-neighbor whenever they enlarged an image. This blurry picture is making my eyes bleed.

Damn, even in easy mode, trying for "who needs Tygan?" is hard. I met two 'topods at the same time (one of which broke my ranger's cover, revealing her), didn't get to Dominate the Gatekeeper because without alien psi-amps it's a coin toss, and on top of that the game crashed on me after I killed the first avatar.

Edit: I got "Who Needs Tygan?"!! And without restarting the mission or outright cheesing it with four psy-ops and two scouts. I just reloaded at the point the game had crashed, which was just after killing the first avatar, then adopted a brilliant strategy of fleeing the Avatar room for some trench warfare at the entrance (at least, until I got rid of the Codices). All said, I don't regret my choice of putting a Superior Stock on three of my dudes.

The second avatar was dealt with when it approached within Dimensional Rift range, after which it teleported into weapons range. Things got a bit Fun after that, as four Gatekeepers warped in.

But I mind-controlled one with my Avatar, and unleashed its devastating AOE on most enemy troops, including the last Avatar and two berserkers (I'll get back to these). The avatar teleported into Null Lance range, but this time wisened up and teleported far away to heal. Unfortunately for him, one of the Berserkers got really, really pissed off at his boss, and apparently decided the Avatar had to die! I guess Berserkers are hard-coded to prioritize humanoids when they go into Blind Rage mode, which bit the last avatar in the ass. Next turn, after he tried to attack the Gatekeeper, I managed to catch him in a Dimensional Rift and finished him off with my MC'd Gatekeeper's Consume ability.

Mission accomplished. In Rookie difficulty, but still, that felt good. Next order of business: Switch it back to Veteran and beat the final mission again the normal way, with lots of awesome equipment.

Edit 2: Thinking of it, mind-controlling an enemy into killing the boss is also how I finished my UFO campaign in OpenXCom...

Edit 3: Huh? Looks like "single word plus number" is now automatically recognized as a Wiki Word...

If you play Stellaris, you can troll a less advanced civ into forming their own XCOM

Looks like the update still didn't correct the "disenfranchised" in Dr. Tygan's backstory... Will they ever correct it? It should be easier to correct than any actual bug could ever be...
