...had a really underrated multiplayer mode, especially the Lost Age.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI wonder...were the original and Lost Age's multiplayer arenas compatible with each other? I never used it, but if they are, I suppose I could have...
Welcome to th:|I don't think they were. Both are great games. Great storylines, great characters(albeit a little flat, but not ridiculously so), cool items, beautiful gameplay. Admittably, the graphics do look bad during summons. But that's not a big deal.
Quest 64 threadThe class system was really fun to play around with. God Pure Mage Mia, Protector Isaac, War Adept Garet, and Chaos Lord Felix make an awesome team.

My first favourite series. My favourite thing is the music, though.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Dark Dawn had some amazing music as well.
Yeah, the music is good and I liked the puzzles.
"Learning without thinking is labor lost. Thinking without learning is dangerous."Honestly? When it comes to videogame music, there are few tunes that have ingrained themselves into my mind as Isaac's Battle Theme. I still hear it whenever I imagine a good fight.
As a Youtube commenter said: This music made you like random encounters.
By the way, it turns out that Belinsk was seen way before Dark Dawn.
...oh wow. That's...oh wow. I always thought that bit felt a bit alien, but now I get what they were doing.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! You know, I never actually summoned Crystallux in my first playthrough. Mainly because I was deathly afraid of actually using Djinn for anything but being equipped for class changes. However, my second playthrough of Dark Dawn, being the one in which I don't miss Brick, has taught me how much more fun the summons are than I thought.
See, when I went through TLA the first time, I summoned everything all the time like a crazy person. Then I went to the other extreme. Tryin' to strike a balance, now. Especially when summons like Moloch and Megeara exist.

I have a message from another time...Ahhhh, I have fond memories of TLA.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.Favorite summon was catastrophe. Not only did he look like a total badass, his attack was totally awesome. Yeah he's basically a pissed off Judgement but I was wowed when I first summoned him. Also regarding Judgement, did anyone else notice his sprite change between GS 1 and Lost Age? His animation was faster too.
I'm in the minority since Isaac's battle theme was never really one of my favorites(rather it was one of my least favorites). I liked Felix's and Jenna's battle theme more but my favorite regular battle theme is actually DD's 1st one.
Favorite dungeon themes?

I did not really have a favorite battle theme from the first two games, I thought they all fit their situation. I thought Felix's fit the most though, as it felt more focused than Isaac's and Felix knew a lot more about what was going on than Isaac. The boat theme's the most unappreciated.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackDungeon theme? Hmm, probably Mars Lighthouse, Magma Rock, or Gaia Rock.
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonI liked using...well, basically any Djinn that weren't the attack ones (so Buff/Debuff, healing, basically), and then summoning whatever I could based off of that. It worked rather nicely.
Also, the first time I went through Golden Sun I did a very minor sequence break (on accident, mind you) and got Mia before going to that tree...town...place. Which made the first lighthouse incredibly fucking hard.

One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderYeah, my strategy for pretty much all non-final-or-bonus boss battles was generally "use all my useful djinn, keep summoning until they're all gone, then attack/heal/whatever until a good amount are set again, then repeat". It did make me wish the battles were more difficult, though...I love the puzzles and the concept of the djinn system is cool, but the fighting in all the games is frankly pretty lame.
Welcome to th:|Interestingly, I did The Lost Age before buying the first game.
So, TLA seemed very In Medias Res and I struggled to understand the plot for the first hour.
Then I bought the first game, and my first thought was "what? I only get the mono-elemental summons?"
And yeah, I initially summon-rushed, but when I started looking up guides for class changes, I became an utter pack rat, trying to keep all my Djinn Set. Trying to strike a balance.
Good dungeon themes?
Well, Jupiter Lighthouse is pretty sweet.
I mainly remember it as the only place in the game where you can successfully Mind Read Alex.
I have a message from another time...I beat Dullahan without summon rushing on Hard. If there weren't an HP cap, I probably wouldn't have been able to do it.
Never again.
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonDullahan nothing worse then getting him, then star magician, and then ANOTHER dullahan when doing arena.
I remember the arena coming down to Poseidon, Dullahan, Bonus Boss, Bonus Boss, Poseidon, Dullahan all the time and thinking when am I going to get doom dragon or something? It took me a long time to figure out how to beat Dullhan, then a lot of Save Scumming to get the right items from that coin game. I refused to level grind to the seventies when I realized that's how long I'd probably need to do it. Interestingly Dullahan works well against Dullahan and so does Iris.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackWell Dullahan has a lower resistance to Wind, but a higher resistance to Water.
But I guess Iris is Fire elemental.
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonI always wondered why there wasn't an earth guardian.
There's already a thread for Golden Sun Dark Dawn, but for some for some reason not for two earlier games. I've only played the first though.
