In case none of you are aware, early in 2011 a brilliant animated movie was released in South Korea. It was quite a box office hit there, as well as in China. After appearing on several festivals, it attracted attention of Western investors, who agreed to distribute the movie in the US, UK and Australia. Before that happened, a region 3 English-subbed DVD was released in S. Korea. Said DVD was inevitably ripped by our friends the Pirates, who put it on a torrent in their bay and lot of people, myself included, dwnld'ed and watched it it. The film was SO AWESOME, that I just HAD to create a page for it. And once you see it for yourselves, you will understand. If you do not possess a region 3-compatible player, find it on a torrent or watch it online.

Oh, and here is the page:

Leafie A Hen Into The Wild

IT NEEDS MORE LOVE. And tropes.

Ah, I read the original novel. I didn't watch the adaptation, however.

It's depressing.

Well I was considering watching this after hearing it sold like that but after dRoy's spoiler...

Yeah, I really hated Animal Farm, The Animals of Farthing Wood, Watership Down (admittedly watched when I was too young too really see anything beyond the rabbits) and Charlottes Web.

Isn't it cheating to use animals to gain extra sympathy from the audience?

Although I hear that's what War Horse does as well... To great effect I've heard.

[up] Don't let it affect you. It might have a different ending, you know?

I don't see how using animals can help gain the audience's sympathy.

Haven't you heard of Death by Newbery Medal?

I t's to do with how lovable the characters are. It may also be related to their innocence.

I happen to have a soft spot for animals. It's why that one heroine in Kanon made me sadder than any of the others.
