Actually, as far as girls with appeal, Evangelion is another strong contender, if we can count adult women as "girls" along with Rei, Asuka, and sometimes Mari. Throw in Misato and Ritsuko and you've pretty much got me sold. (Oh and Maya, um, I guess.)
