Oh man, I just saw this. I remember that I thought Carmelita's stupid nuts-in-her-cheeks look in Sly 4 was dumb...why can't they make it hand-drawn animation?

Because executives think traditional animation doesn't sell well, which is probably a load of crap that nobody in the business wants to chuck into a toilet yet.

-sighs- this again...

a Sly movie would work with either hand-drawn or computer animation.note  i just wish the characters looked a little bit more like the in-game models.

Well, Bentley look pretty accurate, at the least. Murray is a weird-but-workable hybrid of his cartoony game model and the mouth of a real-life hippopotamus.

Bentley actually looks pretty good with his eyes visible. What I wanna know are the designs for Clockwerk and Carmelita, and potentially the Fiendish Five.

I also think Bentley doesn't look bad, but the other two make me cringe. I don't have anything against this being CG film, but I think it'd work better as a hand-drawn one, given how cartoony the games are made to be. They could have at least kept the cel-shading in.

Though I'm still not convinced we needed a movie about this. I love the games, but I don't think they're exactly movie material.

The weird part? It's the same studios working on the R&C movie.

So... Does that mean, Sucker Punch (or is it Sanzaru now?) made the choice to change up the designs?

I had a dream about the Sly Cooper movie last night. In it, I was watching the movie and noticed that the character designs were a lot closer to the games, and I appreciated it. Then I noticed that they weren't just close to the game designs, but the movie used the actual character models from the PS 2 games. And then I noticed that the characters weren't even fully animated; they were just sliding around the area in T-pose, and I got annoyed and left the theater.

Dear Sanzaru. Instead of a Sly Cooper movie, how about Sly Cooper 5? I suspect that the 4th game might have been the last game, and that's a lot of bullshit. Not only does the series fill a niche that's low on games at the moment, but the last game ended on a cliffhanger.

Hey, did anybody else think that Rioichi would be female? It kind of looked that way from the first game.

Seeing as Rainmaker and Blockade are handling the film, it's possible that Sanzaru is working on a fifth game >_>

I'd always thought Rioichi was a dude, but looking at the Sly 1 version again I could see how someone would think otherwise.

[up][up][up]: According to the Playstation blog post they've been frequently in touch with Sony and Sucker Punch. In the comments they said they tried a cel-shaded style but apparently it didn't work too well. Ah well, they also said they'd keep working on the character designs, so hopefully Murray will look better.

I'm perfectly fine with Ian James Corlett voicing Sly, but if getting the original voice actor will please more fans, so be it.

I'm fine with it too. Kevin Miller has given the film his blessing, even if he isn't in it. I do think he should at least get a chance to be in the film though, he deserves that much.

Just saw the movie trailer. Now that I think about it, the only thing that's really off-putting about the movie is the character design, and that can be forgiven for Sly and Bentley. Murray, though... near-unrecognizable. That is all I'm gonna say on that front.

Also, I don't really mind the new voice actor for Sly. Seems pretty similar to Miller's portrayal of him, but younger, which kinda fits the movie, seeing as it's apparently a retelling of Thevius Raccoonus. Maybe he'll return in a sequel movie.

As I said before, Murray looked like a combination of his game design and a real-life hippopotamus' face.

-Phoenix Down-

I was rewatching some scenes from the game, the Le Fwee chapter being one of my favorites, until I realized that it wasn't Le Fwee who outsmarted Bentley, more the other way round, which is kind of disappointing.

Dr. M though.

I'd forgotten how great these cinematics were, and how much I liked Sly 3.

Sadly, when Carmelita confronts Dr. M, I can't help but feel a little sorry for him. He claims it was all in self-defense and... he's not exactly wrong. Sly's gang broke in to what seems to essentially be Dr. M's home, and Carmelita and the police gorilla commandos attack him.

Then again, he is at the moment breaking into a treasure vault full of evidence that it isn't his treasure vault, as well as creating numerous Mix-and-Match Critters in a World of Funny Animals. Even though that particular situation might have been self defense, it was clear that the guy was up to no good.

Yeah, but I don't think Carmelita knows it's the Cooper vault, and what if M actually purchased the island?

I mean yeah, if a police officer walked into your home and found the human centipede, you'd probably be arrested. Still, I found that scene with Dr. M defending his actions funny.

I was watching a Ms Mojo video on video game characters that deserve their own spin-off... and they mentioned a Carmelita spin-off, putting the player in the role of the cop instead of the robber.

Why on earth did they not attempt this?
