I'd say the best solution in this case is do something in the style of Translation Train Wreck, where there is a plain English version below (or above) the "fun" entry.
As far as what the trope is about, it seems be boil down to "subtitles used for humor". I could be wrong, but I think it's limited to humor. Longer possible plain English version:
Subtitles are normally used to translate foreign languages or for a person who speaks incomprehensibly or too softly for the audience to hear. However, sometimes the creators of comedic works like to use the subtitles to deliver additional comedy. For example, the subtitles may display something entirely different than the character is saying, or may translate a dialect we'd normally be able to understand, like jive talk, into formal English.

Currently, all of three sentences actually describe the trope. The bulk of the entry is a ripoff of Monty Python And The Holy Grail, which makes little sense if you don't know that gag(article text != subtitles).

The article, though entertaining, gives me a headache trying to figure out exactly what qualifies as a case of Fun with Subtitles, as it spends two sentences on what the trope is about, and the rest of the description being a Self-Demonstrating Article, in the style of the opening credits of Monty Python And The Holy Grail, meaning that there's no real way to get an accurate defintion of the trope.
