So this has been bugging me recently, so I finally decided to ask:

What was the source of the Anti-Spirals power?

It would be hypocritical for them to use Spiral Power after all the things they said, but having been Spiral beings themselves, they likely understand more than anyone that you have to fight fire with fire. There was nothing else that could match any spiral warriors.

Although that's just a theory on my part. So how did the Anti-spirals do the voodoo that ...they...did.

Crap. That didn't rhyme.

Anyway, Discuss!

I dont know. I always assumed they advanced so far with spiral power right before the spiral nemesis showed up. They then locked their evolution away and used their current spiral level to fight off anyone who reached a certain amount of evolution.

This thread reminds me, there is the original TTGL thread. Should we try to get it unlocked, or...?

My guess is plain hypocrisy. Despite all their efforts, they never managed to completely go against their nature as spiral beings.

[up]It certainly wouldn't be out-of-character for the Anti-Spirals.

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.

Well they did turn out to not be as unemotional as they seemed.

I suppose it's like riding a bike. You never really forget how.

[up]I meant hypocrisy, but that's also true.

That's what I meant too. They're Hypocrites because despite claiming to have no emotions (they did claim that right) they still got all Hot-Blooded during the final battle.

Simple. Spiral Power massively accelerates your technological development. By the time they stopped using it, they were already Sufficiently Advanced Aliens.

To analogise, Kamina City and the Grappal fleets would not simply vanish if the humans decided to stop using Spiral Power.

What's precedent ever done for us?

Spiral energy is involves creativity to a certain extent. Their attacks and mecha only took the forms of things that the Gurren Brigade already did. Their attacks involved no creativity and thus little Spiral Energy.

Spiral Energy always struck me as the ability to warp reality through sheer willpower, where willpower is an actual thing like an AT field is a person's soul in Evangelion.

These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.

Spiral energy is stated to be "the power of evolution," but I took it to mean "the power to evolve" rather than "power produced by evolution." Spiral energy is about going beyond the person you were before, to better yourself. The Anti-spirals weren't technically using Spiral Energy because they weren't trying to be better; they were trying to match what was already put in front of them.

The question is about their power source. Not the technology itself.

Presumably, the two could be related. Their power is drawn from, say, highly sophisticated reactors, or creative use of quantum physics, rather than anything inherent to themselves.

Are you implying Power Source as an energy? Like fuel to a car or such? Because that is an interesting question.

I figured there was an "anti-spiral energy" which they obtained by opposing evolution and expansion. Spirals get their energy from trying to evolve. The Anti-spirals got their energy from subjugating spirals and preventing them from evolving as well as doing the same to themselves. that and/or it was the combined energy and will of their entire race/planet who had decided to but their entire beings into preventing the universe from being destroyed by spiral energy. Their will to do that is a potent thing. As potent as the spirals will to grow (though obviously not powerful enough).

I do wonder about that reference to DNA as a spiral as well, when in fact it's a double helix.
