Steam's publisher sale this week is Paradox, which includes their primary lineup of grand strategy games (Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Victoria, Hearts of Iron and Stellaris) as well as a few other things they publish such as Cities: Skylines (a spiritual successor to SimCity).

Oh wow. That is a good deal. I can fill some glaring holes in my collection for about $20. Thanks for the heads-up!

Already own half of those games including Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, so I'm good. Still a great deal though.

It is a great deal. Shame it's for PC's.

I have everything in that bundle except for Mass Effect: Andromeda, and the price is quite the deal — I do remember, however, a lot of bad noise about the game a few years ago.

Is it worthwhile?

It's actually a pretty ok game, especially in regards to the combat. Lots of neat ways to build your character, and the game encourages you to swap classes and attributes freely thanks to the character presets you can save. It's just that the plot and villains are rather meh, and the beginning drags on for too long before the story and gameplay really opens up.

So, upon closer examination, I am unable to buy this bundle, because I already own Dragon Age Origins.

Apparently, if you own a single item, it is set up that you can't buy the bundle for yourself. And it's been reported that you can't simply remove/relinquish the title you own in order to buy it again, because the bundle 'knows' you owned it. This is such bullshit.

I would have to pay for each bundle item individually instead. Which comes out to about $32. So, because I own Dragon Age Origins, I would have to pay 50% more than the bundle, for fewer games. It's still really cheap and a good deal, but now I'm mad about. I guess I have until May 29 to decide if I want to get over it, or stay mad.

It's strange. Steam bundles usually don't work like that, and instead, Steam allows you to buy the bundle for just the games you don't own, only paying for those games. I know because I bought the entire Bioware bundle, then I bought the EA Classics bundle (by the way, check it out), which included Dragon Age: Origins and several more I already owned. I had no problem doing that, so I don't understand what's happening to you.

Seriously, my avatar comes from the embodiment of the So Bad, It's Good trope.

@desdendelle First of all, welcome back! I think it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I wasn’t a regular on the forums when you were active but I do some pretty regular forum-trawling.

To answer your question: No, from what I heard, I wouldn’t call it a bad game. The worst you could say is that it’s somewhat in the middle-not bad but not as amazing as Bio Ware’s usual record. From the thread we had on it, it didn’t get a drubbing, most people there seemed to like it, more or less.

I would definitely recommend getting it, if only because it’s one of my “critic’s philosophies” that the only person who can tell you that a game is good to you is you.

Also, I think it got patched soon after release so the infamous bugs probably aren’t a problem anymore.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.

[up] Indeed, I was mostly active up to some five or so years ago. Either way since it goes for less than a shawarma I may as well give it a spin - thanks both to you and SgtRicko for the rec.

[up]x4 that's odd. It's the reverse for me — since I own some of the titles I can't gift the collection but can buy it for myself just fine.

We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is free to claim on the Steam, Epic Games, and PlayStation stores.

I was told it this should also be the case on the Xbox store, but it looks like it has a price on the website and I do not have an Xbox, so I can't check what it would actually appear as on the console.
