I've been really interested in seeing this show, but alas- I don't have the channel it's on.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."Operating under the radar, but I hear good things from friends. I'll watch the dvds for sure.
I'm a skeptical squirrelJust saw the first episode.
What. The. Fuck.
It's not over. Not yet.Good? Bad? Space penguin*?
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Probably shouldn't have watched it with my parents.
The two sex scenes where completely unnecessary, but I suppose that every HBO show has that as part of its contract. Carrie is completely off her head, I'm not sure if Brody is a sleeper or has genuinely been turned, wifey, yeah, let's not go there. Right now it seems like "weird people do weird things". And did the terrorists have to be Arab? Come on, guys.
I'm going to be watching next week because I didn't hate it, but I'm not eagerly anticipating the next episode.

It's not over. Not yet.Why wouldn't they be? The show takes place in the US in a modern setting, so having the terrorists be Islamists (who admittedly don't have to be Arab) is the most plausible option. Did the whole thing feel black-and-white to you? I don't remember the pilot too well, but overall I don't think the show relied heavily on stereotypes.
Love truth, but pardon error. - VoltaireI guess it is realistic.
It's just the "brown person hates us because of our freedom herpa derpa" bad guy has been so overdone.
It's not over. Not yet.Medicus, I love this show.
Do you think I could love a show like that*? That's not what's going on here. Possibly. It's at least a lot more interesting than that.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.It has only been one episode, so I guess it has time to become more nuanced.
The two main characters are fairly interesting.
It's not over. Not yet.Just started watching it, so far so good. It has the main guy from Life married to the hooker from firefly, so points on casting. And the returned serviceman storyline is timeless. The plot twist with [[spolier:the hand signals]] was pretty well pulled off, it was good way of creating ambiguity as to whether Brody had become The Manchurian Candidate or if Carrie had just had a extra helping of crazy bitch.
Also both the CIA agent and teenage daughter are doing drugs? Come on HBO, save something for mid season.
hashtagsarestupidCIA agent was taking anti-psychotics.
Also at this point I think marijuana is equivalent to teen smoking or drinking.
Oh wait, so this really is HBO? I might have to re-think my decision to keep watching...

It's not over. Not yet.I just assumed it was HBO because you said it was HBO. I dunnno lol.
although they use the word 'fuck' twice so it's clearly made for cable tv.
hashtagsarestupidIt's Showtime.
And it's a great show. Episodes 7 is amazing *, and like I said at the start of the thread, the finale is one the tensest episodes of anything I've ever seen. It's amazing.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Showtime, huh? The same network that forced Stargate SG-1 to have full frontal nudity in the pilot episode.
It's not over. Not yet.Over a decade ago. They're a different channel now. Plus, those earlier seasons are thought of as being better than the later ones, right? I've heard the term B'Ori thrown about, I will admit.
I like Showtime shows, as long as they're in their first few seasons. The channel doesn't know how to long term manage their shows, so they just end up running them into the ground. We're onto the... eighth? season of Weeds now, and let me tell you, that show's really patchy now.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.It shifted over to another network after the pilot.
It's not over. Not yet.Ah, shows how much I know about Stargate. I could never get over how Star Trek the entire thing was.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. This scene would never have appeared in Star Trek.
Okay, so the second episode can basically be summed up as "TITS TITS TITS TITS TITS LESBIANS CAMELTOE COWGIRL TITS TITS TITS TITS TITS."
I was all set not to watch it, then the familials were all "no no, watch it with us!" and bam, harem auditions.
I did get to see Brody punch a guy in the throat, that was pretty cool.
Hell, the actual plot progression in this ep could be condensed into five minutes.

It's not over. Not yet. It's a character drama. It covers a lot of ground with its narrative, but not actual plot.
It's all about building tension and developing characterisation. I think you'll be happy if you stick with it. Just give it a chance.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Is the needless T&A going to drop in later episodes?

hashtagsarestupidPretty much. There's a little, but it's sporadic. I certainly can't remember any significant sequences like that, but I couldn't remember any from the second episode either.
Is that a deal breaker for you?
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.i ain't complaining XD
hashtagsarestupidSo the third episode continues a scene where Brody jerks off in front of his naked wife.
Also the episode opens with Lynn getting screwed up the ass by the Arab prince.
What. The. Fuck.
I can't watch this. I really can't.

It's not over. Not yet.
I know the season is over now but that finale was — no hyperbole — the tensest thing I have ever seen on television, and I've seen a metric fuckton of television. Claire Danes and Daniel Lewis deserve all the awards which are definitely going their way for that epic-ly sweaty finale.
But then again, I'm a sucker for Cassandra plots. Truly heart-wrenching.
