Wrong again. That's merely for controversial stuff. And it's not just for announcements.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman"Controversial announcement" and "controversial character" strike me as sister tropes.
Anyway, the point is that given the state of the internet, pretty much any announcement is going to spark debate and controversy somewhere, so perhaps we should do the same as we did to Base Breaker, and leave this page example-less. Incidentally that's one of the popular options on this crowner, too :)
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I can support that idea too. We'll should move the examples to wicks, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt's not an announcement that someone found impressive. It's basically when someone says there's going to be an announcement at a specific time, but doesn't say what's being announced and it generates a lot of buzz with people speculating about the nature of the announcement.
An announcement that triggered significant reactions, that is.
Also, we still don't have any useful candidate to redirect this to. Maybe we should scrap that crowner option - what's the point of upvoting something impossible?

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt's not an announcement that triggered significant actions. It's an announcement of an announcement that triggered significant actions.
I really can't see that in the trope description. There, all I can see is "shocking news"
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCalling crowner: make this into a redirect.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.A redirect to what? We still don't have a good candidate.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat's what it means in the wild. If that's not what the description says, it needs a rewrite.
All I get is that a Megaton Announcement is an announcement that triggers significant discussion before the release.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIf there's nowhere to redirect this, we'll have to bite the bullet and just cut it.
Can we redirect to SugarWiki. And The Fandom Rejoiced? I've seen them used interchangeably.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Sure, but we need to remove the wicks there.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMegaton Announcement only has 7 wicks anwyay.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.After 2,5 months, I've gone ahead and redirected this to And the Fandom Rejoiced. This should be done now.

Crown Description:
Megaton Announcement
Okay, so if it's about significant discussion and upheaval, how about Base Breaker?
