In other news, Atlantic wet.
I'm rooting for Argentina over the vulture funds, frankly.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiExcellent Polandball about Argentina's flag.◊

I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.I don't get it. And usually I really get Polandballs
I'm baaaaaaack
Argentina's flag depicts the sun, whilst that of Honduras depicts the stars. Because they are are otherwise fairly similar, the joke is that Argentina and Honduras are actually the same country - Argentina by day, Honduras by night.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiOooh. Lol
I'm baaaaaaackBBC: Argentine policeman jumps on car during protest
The incident took place in Buenos Aires in July during a workers' protest against lay-offs by the multinational auto parts company, Lear.
Footage shows officer Juan Alberto Lopez Torales throwing himself onto the windscreen of a car before falling to the ground.
From the Israel/Palestine thread:
He's right. A more neutral rename would be nice, musical references be damned.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. The standard Fillintheblank Politics?
Trump delenda est...How about just "Argentina"? I mean North Korea's thread is called just North Korea. It is much harder to find something NK than it is about Argentine. They can have a neutral thread name, why not here?
That would work too.
Trump delenda estThis thread was originally just about the actions of the Argentine government when it comes to the Falklands, thus the tittle. However since it's now a general Argentina thread a rename does seem appropriate.
As for the idea that people are continuously negative towards Argentina, I don't know about anyone else but I'm only negative towards the government (and try and make that clear in my posts), I'm sure the people are lovely, but I stand that the government is bloody crazy a lot of the time.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranI'd just like to point out most of us ridicule it's government, not it's people. I feel nothing but sympathy for them given how wildly out of wack it's policies are.
I'm baaaaaaackTo contextualize, my outburst came because, in the other thread, when it was brought the news that some Argentine people decided to sue Israel people immediately brought up UK, the Falklands and nazis and accused them of potential attention whoring. To clarify further, the news was about some Argentine citizens, not the government, citizens. And no one actually discussed the news itself (although probably because no one could read it).
That was not the first time either. I've been seeing similar attitudes rather regularly in this forum. As soon as Argentina is brought up people seems to be immediately dismissive or hostile. It is getting tiring.
Also, I am not pointing fingers. I am talking about the situation as I perceive it. I honestly don't pay enough attention on handles to know exactly who are consistently hostile to the government alone and those who attack the people as well. But I will reinforce that I definitively see more than just hate against the government.

Yeah that particular instance was silly, the Falklands realy shouldn't have been bought up there, now I'd say there's a logic in bringing up the fact that Argantina has a history of sheltering Nazis, but only the same logic that would aplly if say a bunch of [insert other Nazi sheltering nationality here] tried to sue the Israli goverment.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranNo, the fact that the country sheltered nazi over 50 years ago have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that some people from there decided to sue Israel. It make as much sense as implying that, if a German criticizes Israel, it must have to do with nazism. Implying otherwise is just poor taste overall and inherently fallacious.
The troper who brought that up was (probably) clearly joking, though, as they stroked out the comment. That alone wouldn't be an issue, even if I feel it is poor taste.

Yes, I might have been a little in poor taste. Although, it was rather late in the evening for menote .
However, the relationship between Britain and Argentina is coloured by The Falklands War — for example, see the rather brutal Argentina–England football rivalry.
Keep Rolling OnOh, come off it, you can't keep hating people over a mini-war that was over in a flash. Heck, hating anyone just because your governments set you at each others' throats strikes me as... I need to find the right word for it... let's go with "misplaced" for now.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. They DO continue harassing them over it, including trying to politicize the Olympics, so it's not 'just' that war.
I'm baaaaaaackThe war is only a part of a longstanding dispute.
Also, I remember some Argentina fans displaying banners about the Malvinas in the World Cup a while ago. On both sides, there are citizens who will buy whatever the governments tell them and vocally support them.
Forget about that. Just observe the comment section under any Falkland-related video on You Tube. Or the British & Argentine national anthems, for that matter.
Some people know how to hold grudges.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.Seriously, can we just stop discussing the fucking Islands already? Have a funny advert:

Schild und Schwert der ParteiWhat matters is what the Islanders think — and they don't want (and have voted against) any change to the current arrangementsnote .

"Yup. That tasted purple."
At this point I doubt argentina will get outta this mess without a full economic clusterfuck given how its government is making so much political spectacle out of "heroically resisting the evil vulture funds" and will thus refuse to pay up until its too late.
In other news, someone from the daily beast heads to that new "Malvinas Museum" and confirms that yes, it is another North Korea style propaganda piece.
