Apparently TFA was going to open with Luke's severed hand spinning through space, still holding Anakin's lightsaber, and burning up in re-entry on Jakku.
Also the prop production of ANH is amazing.
" To create the human figures occupying the miniature of Luke's landspeeder, 98th-level visual effects wizard Lorne Peterson looked for a quick and dirty alternative to sculpting wee versions of Luke and Obi-Wan. He found it in the form of two Steve Austin (OG Six Million Dollar Man, not the Stone Cold one) action figures, which he mildly disguised with tiny Luke and Obi-Wan robes and stuffed into the vehicle. Although it looks downright ludicrous from the front, it totally worked in the film because the prop was shot only from far away or from behind, and for only short amounts of time. Which is a good thing, because miniature Luke isn't wearing any pants."

The Protomen enhanced my life.I was, decidedly unimpressed, with the new film myself. It feel completely flat for me.
Is there anything else you wanted to expect?
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.Yeah I wanted to like it. I wanted to feel like there was a good payoff to Luke's story, I wanted characters like Rey, Finn, etc to be respected, etc.
Not hard really, but sadly none of it happened here.
Yep. It seems that the ratio is 60 % liked it and 40 % disliked the film just from looking at forums.
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."In terms of the more established fanbase, yeah it's probably going to be far more divisive than it is with critics/general audiences.
And if you listen to Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley's comments specifically, they kind of knew that going in (Mark definitely did).
and Gotta be honest though, Rian got very ballsy in pulling these plot points which makes the story put in good use in what to expect from the usual tropes of the franchise, which isn't always a bad thing.
I personally think the send-off of Luke is not only good, but also fitting. There's not much left he can do in his life, but at the same time, he will carry a legacy where his name will inspire the Galaxy in having hope. I mean, the forces from the Outer Rim seemingly didn't came because they feel hopeless, that they can't do it, no one will. Then Luke came up, with a power unlike no other. And with, he started a new spark of rebellion, a spark of hope. Alive or not, his actions and reputation can bring out the courage of anyone who opposes the First Order, and the ending nicely shows that.

The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.I'm kind of surprised Hamill went along with this. If I was him I'd lobby hard for changes. He certainly has the pull in the franchise to do it.
Mark has made very clear he fundamentally disagreed with all decisions Rian made for the character but went along because he respected his vision.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."@luigi Spoiler more of that. : /

"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."Honestly I felt like what they did with Luke here was absolutely godawful. Like nothing about it worked imo.
I've said this before, but I've never subscribed to the notion that "ballsy automatically equals good." And honestly, by the end, I didn't find it all that "ballsy" anyway.

Keep the goddamn spoilers out of this thread. We have a spoiler thread for a reason.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Yeah, Luis, god damn it man.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Fans who just walk into threads to spoil stuff are the worst.
Luigi is now on my blacklist.
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."Come on guys...I didn't mean it that way.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.x6 I get being angry about spoilers being posted where they aren't supposed to, but that's no excuse to call someone "brain-dead." Seriously, "Don't be a dick" is a forum rule.

I really wish that was true in hindsight.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I wouldn't be adverse to it.
Oh God! Natural light!Rose as a war-torn orphan from a planet like Jedha would been really cool and interesting, but she was still a character that I really liked.
Ah well.
Hey HBP. Sorry you didn't like the movie but good to see you aren't banned!
I heard someone say TLJ's themes overlaps with KOTOR II's but worse.
"You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty."What? No. It has overlaps but if you hated those themes in KOTOR II, you needn't worry.

But the EU is neither Canon nor Film.
I mean tangibly, on screen, we see proof of Yoda's assertion that "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter"
It always seemed he was talking up the force before, but with the Mind Links and Self Projections, and the Infinite Dark Side Plane, we actually see what that means.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for you
