I also love the thumper. I just hate how its nearly impossuible to get unless you pay real moneys.
Agreed. I'm trying to save up for the tech's thumper, but in the process of playing I try out other classes (usually because "oh my goodness why is half of my team technicians"), decide I kinda like parts of them, and upgrade some of their gear so I can be more competitive. Or decide I want to try out a new class because hey, I just found out I kinda like invading the enemy gen room and mucking stuff up, so let's try out Raider or Infiltrator when I have the XP for them. Or try out Doombringer for a different flavor of defense, maybe?
That, and the matches are sometimes frustratingly unbalanced. Most of my team is bronze, enemy team has 5 golds and 2 platinums. Hmm... I wonder which team is gonna stomp all over the other one? Especially when they seem to be working together well enough that it looks like they're all on skype or something.
The queueing system tries to sort matches by rank. If you're getting a lot of rank difference between players, it's probably a sign there's few people playing at that time in your current region.
I'm kind of disappointed the Pathfinder-only TDM servers aren't getting more love, they're really quite fun.
"DURANDAL AND GLADOS WILL MAKE BEAUTIFUL CYBER SEX AND HAVE SNARKY PILLOW TALK" - The FreemanThe other classes tend to shake things up, though, so I can kinda understand that not that many people want Pathfinder-only battles.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelOK, for some reason chat keeps randomly not working: anytime I try to press "enter" it deletes my message instead of sending it.
Also, how the hell do you get in and out of vehicles that are already deployed? I can't find anything in the key binding.
Interact is F by default, you use that to get in, I'm pretty sure.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI think you mean G (f is belt weapon, usually a grenade), but I get your point.
I used to think Raider's ARX Buster sucked, but then I was in Sunstar keeping the other team from repairing their generator while Juggernauts kept pouring. Holy crap, that thing is versatile.
On a related note, I think the most satisfying thing to do in this game is when you dodge a Jug's Fusion Mortar by jumping toward him to give him a face full of explosive.

No, no, no, the most satisfying thing to do is to rake someone across the face with your melee weapon while going upwards of 250 Km/H.
"DURANDAL AND GLADOS WILL MAKE BEAUTIFUL CYBER SEX AND HAVE SNARKY PILLOW TALK" - The Freeman^^You need to get the Raider's Grenade Launcher, it is seriously awesome to use.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI've never been able to melee anybody but Sentinels who don't watch their backs. It doesn't help that it seems to lack any lag compensation, so the timing differs depending on your ping.
It's also expensive as hell, and I generally get unlocks in increasing order of cost.

Speaking of Raider, new gear came out today. Plasma Gun, NJ-5B, and Cluster Grenades.
Apparently, the Plasma Gun is OP to everyone. I don't really know about that, but it looks awesome, and it'll be nice to have a weapon for the raider at least sorta similar to spinfusor.
"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - CharlatanOh yeah, did anyone add me? My screen name is TurboRocket.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelThe biggest complaint I've heard is that on top of tremendous DPS*, the thing is near impossible to avoid. The projectiles travel as fast as assault rifle rounds with no arc and are themselves very large. And even if you don't get a direct hit, they also have splash damage which gets you if they hit something or someone nearby.
Noted.
I'm posting this after making some observations about the Raider gear in gameplay.
That sounds extremely exaggerated to me. Sure, it's easier to midair with, but certainly not to that degree. I was avoiding a Raider with it yesterday fairly easily, though he may have been inexperienced, too. After checking, the splash isn't nearly as big as, say the Spinfusor splash. It's still there, though, I'll give you that. The projectiles... they are kind of large, might need a bit of a shrink, but it's not like you can just fire completely randomly towards someone and know you'll hit.
Cut down the wall o text to say: It seems it might be a bit OP, but not nearly to the degree a lot of people seem to think it is, especially after playing against it. It's not going to be like the Jackal where you never, ever see anyone use anything else (that weapon is ridiculous).
I know we did a "what's your favorite class" thing already, but I have another question: what class would you actually buy a skin for (and the associated weapons, of course, but those aren't out yet). I'd like to see Soldier, but considering how nice it is already that's probably not going to be for a while.

"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - CharlatanSince this is a bit of a turnaround, making it into a new post.
Played some TDM to get some more experience versus Plasma. The hate for it is still burning, but lots of raiders are on now and using it. Honestly, it does seem like it could use a smaller hit radius and a slower bullet speed, give it a bit more aiming necessary.
Also might be nice if it didn't have 40 shots, but eh. I still think this is just the "post-launch everyone is using it" thing, but I can now agree there is an issue, even if I disagree on how overpowered it is.
"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - CharlatanA friend told me that the shots should travel more slowly, and that on a flat Arena map, it's at its worst.

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelAnd, on Friday, I got a streak as Technician on Drydock Night and had a good run as Sentinel on Outskirts 3P.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI'm very tempted to play this. Fony said it was interesting, and Star (of TF 2) plays this now as well, and it looks really fun.
Hmm... download or no...
Try it, man.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI am playing this, and I really enjoy it.
Definitely play it.
I hate to seem like a blatant advertisement (which I totally am, I just don't like being so obvious about it), but if you do decide to sign up (and really, what's the harm in it?), you should use someone's referral link. It nets bonus experience for you AND them!

I've been playing this game on/off again since the Beta times. Only recently have I been playing more often because early on I kept on getting my ass kicked about 2000 times while only getting in 3 or 4 kills in a match. Plus, I was busy with other games. But now I'm really liking it.
I'm Nettacki on that game BTW
