That makes more sense, yes.

5/10 is pretty low in that case; care to share your reasoning? Or really, any explanation at all will do.

From nearly every account I've heard, the first woman he raped was perfectly willing to have sex with a condom. He didn't like that. Eventually he agreed to sex with a condom... and then when the condom broke he refused to stop. But why? He's still feeling the damn condom, it doesn't gain him any pleasure if he continues, versus stopping and replacing it. I suggest a more plausible motive was due to the argument about the condom, not the actual condom; he raped her because he was mad at her and he wanted to do something nasty to her.

Or he was thinking, "Just five more minutes and I'll be done! I'm not gonna go through the hassle of stopping, putting on a new condom, and starting all over again." That wouldn't make it right, but it would mean he was being selfish instead of malicious.

Then with the other woman he had sex with her while she was asleep, which obviously isn't any kind of advantage over masturbation. If he was going for sexual pleasure (and is not a psychopath) he'd've used his hand or woken her up. He doesn't gain anything by raping her unless raping her is exactly what he wants to do.

So the inside of a woman's vagina feels exactly like the inside of someone's fist? Never knew that. In that case, why do men bother having sex at all?

To clarify, for you as well as our faithful peanut gallery yonder, I mean that I have participated in five of those, mostly with my consent attached.

"That makes more sense, yes."

No, it doesn't. I don't waste time rating posts that are obviously not trolling.

I can only think of three of those that I would not say are a problem, the fact you have participated in 5 concerns me greatly.

All I do, is sit down at the computer, and start hittin' the keys. Getting them in the right order, that's the trick.

I'm sure you didn't. But I think I wouldn't be the only one who, on reading your posts, reached the conclusion that you were admitting to having done them, not having had them done to you.

Sorry.

I think, purely on statistics, that it's safe to assume that most women aren't rapists.

I phrased it in such a way because I agree with the poster that they shouldn't be all painted with the same brush when the levels of coercion and power discrepancy vary so widely.

^ Don't worry about it.

"it's actually a pretty good illustration of how rape is mainly about power, not about sex."

You mean to say that the Assange rape case is mainly about power, not sex. How are you, in good faith, going through the posts in this thread and still parroting this unsupported dogma that rape in general isn't about sex?

"Rape, sex with an unconscious person is always rape unless the sex was explicitely negotiated while they were conscious."

Deep sleeper, eh?

I would think most rapes are partly about sex and partly about power...

It is about power—for the one getting raped: after all, they're having their will and autonomy overriden by some arsewipe who then uses and discards them like cheap loo roll. From that perspective, "it's about power" makes perfect sense.

From Mr Rapo's perspective, power (his physical strength, Rohypnol) is a means to get the sex he wants.

I'm not sure about #3: While it sure looks "obvious" when a male decides penetrate a sleeping partner, the person who thinks "I'll wake hir up with some oral" on the morning after certainly assumes the steamy night that preceded it means consent to "receive additional sexual gratification".

[up][up] I'm not sure your description of a rapist's motivations is helpful. By extension everything you do is about power. Your power to get X. Let X be justice, money, people agreeing with you on the internet. It's too general to tell us anything.

[up] I've seen all of these called rape. I don't think they're all immoral. My main point is that they're not all equally bad, even if they are all bad or all rape. #3 is one of the ones I did. There was a steamy night the night before, I was half asleep when I started (still used a condom), we both woke up during and enjoyed it. She asked me out again for later that week.

[up]That's the trouble with the use of that word.

I'd say, as far as rape's concerned, power manifests, essentially, in the use of force.

[up][up]But "rape about power" has a clearer meaning that is not this. It means "I want myself and the victim to feel how I am in control and they are not".

I love how people actually believe that any statistic about sexual abuse has any way of being anywhere near accurate. Rape is one of two topics I've noticed that instantly disable society's collective bullshit detectors.

[up][up] But the whole point of Rohypnol is the the victim doesn't know that she's been raped. She won't know that power had been used on her. (Rohypnol was one of the examples used, along with force, of rape as power)

[up][up] Does it matter if the results are falsified to appear higher? Of course not, it occurs and that is terrible. If it were only one person in the whole country being raped that would still be one too many. Stop trying to act like a smartass.

The definition of "force" I'm working with here is: any physical means to override the other party's will and choice.

[up][up][up]Agreed.

[up][up] If one person a year was being raped in the US it would make a difference. If that was the case we should stop worrying about it and deal with concerns that are harming more people, like drowning in buckets, or having televisions fall on them.
