Recently started re-watching this series and enjoy it. Season 2 was an improvement but season 1 still has some things I like.

I was thinking, with Samurai Jack and Young Justice being uncancelled for at least one more season, do you think there are any chances of this show returning?

[up] i don't bet on it but maybe a possible reboot would be cool.

Zero to none, unfortunately. Besides having a substantially smaller fanbase, both the series and the original comics don't have a good enough reputation for a variety of reasons, and there would be accusations of being a Winx Club rip-off.

I think there are enough differences between this show and Winx for that not to be an issue. Also, I thought the show was pretty fondly remembered. The second season anyway.

Given how much Seasonal Rot has taken over the Winx Club, I am kind of glad that WITCH has become more a cult classic. In my opinion, I think WITCH was better because it was less saccharine and had better characterization.

Part of was curious to see how Weisman would handle some of the material in the later run, specially with the government agents closing in to what the girls were doing. But the show also had a pretty satisfactory ending otherwise. It didn't really leave me incomplete like so many shows I like that end prematurely.

Also, we got Spectacular Spider-Man a few years later, so I can't complain about that. grin

From what I've seen receptions seem rather mixed: while Weisman's season is a classic, the comics suffered a pretty severe Seasonal Rot of their own, and the show's first season is barely above Winx Club standards.

I watched season 1 but never got around to season 2. I should probably watch it before the year is out.

The American intro is so dang good...

From what I've seen the fanbase seems to hate the show though they admit the comics did go downhill at one point. I wouldn't expect anyone to want a season three though personally I'd be all for it.

Yeah, I'd be down for it as well. Though I doubt Disney is interested in the brand to do anything with it, and I don't know if W.I.T.C.H. has enough nostalgia power to be noticed when the 00's nostalgia boom inevitably hits.

You know due to my tendency to ship heroines and male villains together, I remember shipping Will and Phobos together.

One of my favourite things about this show is how creative and strategic they can be with their powers. My favourite instance of this is when they defeated an energy creature by creating an electric storm.

Do you guys have any such favourite instances?

I won't read any of this thread since I'm currently watching season 2.

But I'm glad someone made this, since noticing it gave me the inspiration to restart my watching of Season 2 which I'm been writing mini-recaps for.

So thanks whoever started posting in this again.

First season was good, but the second was better.

My copies of the first Arc arrived in the mail today.

I was a little surprised at the size (being closer to the size of manga volumes than trade paperback). But that makes sense when each issue is 60~ pages.

I actually ended reading it online already, but I'm still excited for physical copies + a better translation.

I rather liked the show. I watched it at first because I really liked the art (and not only the characters, I remember very fine backgrounds), then I was kept by the interesting characters (well, save Blunk, but even he had his moments), their evolutions and the overarching arcs. That there were really funny episodes also helped.
Too bad it was cancelled, but at least, it ends with a decent sense of closure and a not too blatant Sequel Hook.

I've only browsed the comic a few times, so I can't really comment on it. What I found was that it seemed targeted to a younger (and "girlier") audience than the show, but maybe I stumbled upon fillers.

My big complaint about the comic is that it was inconstant after the first arc, which I mean given that the original creators got ousted is an understandable but it still is kind of a big issue: it never seemed to find it's footing after Phobos was defeated and a lot of the plotting was melodramatic.

In season 1, what is Will saying during the transformation sequence where the girls are listing their elements?

[up][up] She's supposed to say "The Heart", but is deliberately pronounced as gibberish. No one knows why, but is theorized that they didn't want to alienate the boy audience even more by having the main lead having the power of heart. In the second season is heard more clearly, but is quickly replaced with Quintessence.

[up] There were early releases in volumes, but there really hasn't been any major release of the full series, sadly. Maybe the full series could be included on Disney+.

I caught up with the show a few years ago on YouTube and really liked it. It ran 52 episodes, not bad for the 65-Episode Cartoon era.

It does appear that Disney now owns it, even though it was a co-production with SIP Animation. So there's hope for it showing up on Disney+.

[up] Well, the source material was a Disney comic, so SIP Animation probably was just in charge of animating the show.

But Disney owns the world and the characters.

Youtube was where I watched it.

It's a shame there hasn't been an official online release.

A Disney+ release would be very nice, since I'm 100% for anything which gets W.I.T.C.H. to a wider audience.
