It's interesting to find out that Kojima knew when to hang it up on his end when he had no clue where to go with it. Even better when he let another developer with a much clearer idea take over.
I actually have to say I prefer Platinum's idea of creating the gameplay first, than making a story around that. Too often it just feels like games these days want to be Hollywood blockbusters and begrudgingly give the player something to do while they watch.
Agreed 100%. Looking back at the pre-platinum trailer(s), it's basically just a tech demo. They had a cool-looking concept and some plot details to fill in... But they didn't have much in the way of game. Platinum's got the right idea.
It turns out someone used the word "revengeance" in the 60s.
