No, that happened in 2010. 2 God Of War games, No More Heroes Desperate Struggle, Bayonetta, Darksdiers, Dantes Inferno, Force Unleashed 2, Ninety Nine Nights II.....

Due to the fact that Kojima Productions and Platinum Games are making this I am willing to give it a go. I'm a big fan of both these studios works so hopefully it'll turn out alright.

Plus, I've always wanted a Cyborg Ninja game ever since I first saw Gray Fox in action.
Wasn't Metal Gear Solid VR Missions like that?

No, VR Missions was more like Metal Gear Solid, but with more restrictions and a lot of blue. A whole lot of blue. A WHOLE LOT OF FUCKING BLUE.
While you could play as kind-of-a-cyberninja-Raiden, it was only with the lame vibrablade from two.

There where only four missions as the cyborg ninja in that. Talk about a Bonus Feature Failure.

MGS 2 had a whole bunch of VR missions where you can play as Cyborg Ninja Raiden. It still doesn't really count though, as they obviously had no plot being VR missions, and were just slightly different versions of the normal Raiden VR missions. A far cry from an entire game centered around it.

So many fans are angered that they are focusing on game play rather then story .

It's absolutely hilarious that fans are getting so worked up over this.

Well. That's because Metal Gear Solid has mostly focused on a convoluted plot. Status Quo Is God ya know?

Piss on MGS 4 why don't you?

Screw this game. This is not a Metal Gear Solid title. This is a rejection of every thematic and moral underpinning of the series. This is a spit in the face to literally everything that made Metal Gear Solid more than a mediocre third-person action title.

...No, it's not a Metal Gear Solid title, it's a Metal Gear Rising title. There's no "Solid" in the name.

Not really? I haven't played 4, so maybe I'm missing something from there, but this game does seem somewhat consistent with the rest of the series if you take Ac!d in consideration.

This is not a Metal Gear Solid title. This is a rejection of every thematic and moral underpinning of the series.

Funny how people forget that the entire reason that the Solid series took place was because Snake was yanked out of the cozy retirement he well earned at the end of the origninal series to deal with a threat only he can handle. It's extremely fitting that this is how Rising comes about and not at all out of place.

I agree that this fits perfectly well with the established MG philosophy. Raiden was done. Now he's not. Does he get a say in the matter? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, no.

I could keep going, but it would just be inciting another circular argument like last night. As fun as those are, its not very constructive to participate in one.

Anyway, I'll say it again. This looks cool. I'm actually pretty optimistic about this. Somewhere between cautiously optimistic and genuinely optimistic, I'd say. I already know the gameplay will be solid. Platinum Games know what they're doing when it comes to action. I'm also fairly confident the story will be pretty good since Kojima Productions is handling that side. As long as these two factors are wed properly, then we're looking at a solid action game. Kinda sucks for those of us (myself included) who really enjoy stealth, but it should be an absolutely solid action game.

I find it ironic that I use Solid to describe how I predict the game will be when this isn't even Metal Gear Solid anymore. Its Metal Gear Rising.
It feels good to move to a new branch in the Metal Gear saga.

You know, I wonder if we'll ever get a superfast action game besides Devil May Cry where the hero doesn't use a Katana. They seem to be a heavily preferred weapon for action heroes. For some reason. Guess it's the whole "Made in Japan" thing?

Anyways, I wonder if it's still possible to do a Pacifist Run of this version of the game, seeing as the fact that that was possible was pretty much the only piece of information released before. Maybe Raiden will attack with the flat of his blade, rely on martial arts, or go for the weapons like they said before.

You didn't have to use the blade in Bayonetta.
