sam may do some stupid things at first when she gets inevitably thrown in (waiting for a good time) but she'll very quickly wisen up

Okay but like the main problem with child characters that are not like, say, Sora is that they basically need to be taken care of. The other characters will often have to stop doing this important thing make make sure the babby is alright before they can continue with the plot and honestly that's not fun.

There's also the fact that all of the other characters inadvertently look like dicks if the player doesn't want to involve them in taking care of the child character. But are also dragging them around on this super dangerous mission, and sometimes need to break character just to keep them there. Which is also not that fun.

I don't think trip's given any indication that he'll be handling this poorly.

If Sam goes to the battlefield persay and screws up because she's a kid and all that, Pyro either has to have Stanton suddenly be okay with sending a kid on suicide missions somehow or put her on lockdown.

even if sam was never allowed to go on missions she still has a power that can benefit those on the field in safety

if stanton ain't fine with it she can easily give out Important Info from comfort of heavily armed base
