The current image uses the whole strip, which is a no-no.

Seconded, pretty weak image anyway.

I don't see a date or signature on any of the panels. Do you have proof there wasn't a fourth?

[up][up][up] Yeah, it seems pretty, well, cartoonish anyway, and many examples are much darker than that. Ideally we should go for something about as dark as the average example.

Okay, funny joke answer and all, but I'm pretty sure that doing something illegal in an out-of-the-way part of the wiki is still something we're supposed to not do.

Yes, but that one's hosted on the wiki. I assumed the rationale behind linking to external images was that the wiki wasn't hosting them.

I think that "move to Image Links" means not putting the stacked version there, but a link to the comic itself.

So... Anyone got any suggestions?

If you honestly think that the idea of being hooked to a plane that's about to take off for a foreign country isn't very dark, then I would dare you to try having it happen, and, should you live to tell the tale, reassert that it in fact, isn't very dark afterall. Granted, the G/PG rated spin on things that Jim Davis uses may mask this somewhat, but I'd say it is still a very evil thing to do to a person.

The legal issue though, is a legit one. Perhaps the "failtacular" image of a car that somehow managed to crash into the roof of a house would work. It's caption of "a failure so epic, it's almost a win" is pretty close to the definition of the trope.

What is our tolerance for a bit of violence on here? Because I would assume this is too bloody, but the first and last panel of this fit the trope to a tee. 1

or maybe the first two of this (or first and third) 2

[up][up] I think in order to qualify for this trope, it doesn't just have to be dark, it has to be blatantly obvious that it's dark. So blatantly obvious that you're actually offended by it.

It's probably too gory for a page image, and it's not the best example anyway, but something in the vein of this from "The Devil Dared me to, " is I think what we want.

This one might actually work.

[up] Your first link is broken and I'm not sure how I feel about your definitions of the trope. I'll read up on it a bit, but I don't think the second pic works.

The second pic is just crosses the line if at all.

This trope is do something into the offensive department say then do it again even more making it funny.

Someone trying to hang themselves? Not funny. Have someone yank on the rope in an attempt to save them? Funny.

[up][up]Sorry, didn't mean to direct that comment at you. Getting a screwdriver fired into your eye by a nerf gun is exactly what the trope is about.

[up] Come to think of it, I guess you're right.

[up] Yeah, no problem.

And I keep going through Penny Arcade because they are sort of famous for it, but usually the examples are not wholly without blood. Like this one has the trope but is too far

[up] That is decent but we would have to use the whole thing...

The example I brought up earlier.

Man Hanging himself[1] [2] Not Funny. Girl yanking on him "trying" to save his life [3] [4] [5] Funny.

Guy trying to jump infront of the train...[6][7] Not funny [8][9] Push him? Funny.

The problem with those [up] is that it requires way too much context in order to get the Twice The Line bit. 4 panels was even more than the original comic itself.

For the record, this, is the image I was talking about above. I think it fits the trope to a T.

Also, Raso, the trope isn't simply a funny spin on something offensive, it's something being funny because of just how offensive it is. It's related, but not the same thing.

[up]That doesn't really fit the "funny because it's so offensive" criteria, and image macros are frowned upon anyway.
