Yup, seconded. That pic tells me nothing about the trope.
Thirded.
I see a guy, a woman with an odd flute, and some blubbles. I see neither mermaid nor siren.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Singing Mermaids = sirens, eh? Why not a pic of Ariel ?

Just an idea..

Life goals: Immortality, to flirt with any cute thing that moves, and the permanent silence of my frequently-occurring existential crises.Sirens specifically means beings whose singing is a Brown Note that makes you obsessed with getting closer, somehow resulting in death, capture, or other bad things.
Bird-women and fish-women seem to be the two main ways to depict them.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.+1 pull. Blurry and it doesn't adequately show the trope.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Support pull.
Fight smart, not fair.Really like that last one. Clearly a mermaid and the skulls help cement the whole "siren" aspect. It'd be better if she were singing.
Fight smart, not fair.Pulled current:
I prefer the first two myself... If their mermaidness had been more evident.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Post 9 #2 could work. It's got the mermaidness and lure-to-doom aspects down. Specifically indicating she's a siren who looks like a mermaid is tricky but the background shipwreck isn't bad at all.)
For reference, here's a cropped version at wiki size.

That is a good pic, any other ideas?
I'm okay with that. It's a mermaid with skulls and shipwrecks, clearly confusing the two.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. That looks great!
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanThis trope has tons of issues really that pic really that is a real Siren in the way later folklore portrays them there are two types the original Human/Bird and Mermaid-like. (even though a Siren isn't a sea dweller no matter what they look like.)
Hell I dont see any Sirens in the trope itself, this trope has nothing to do with actual sirens really it's just Mermaids Like To Sing...

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!That's only true of the anime examples. Most of the rest of the page is talking about what are called Siren's in media. The anime examples just need to be cut for not fitting the description of the trope.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWhen I saw this topic, Siren◊ from Final Fantasy VIII immediately came to mind.
Yeah, she's more of the original bird-woman.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. No so fond, the thing we care about is practically a background element.
Clock is set.
Post 13 looks very good to me. It's perhaps a pity that it lacks depiction of the musical aspect, but seems to me to show the core of the trope well enough that the lack isn't a serious problem.
My Games & Writing
It's low quality and I have absolutely no idea what's going on in it.
