I'm not sure how clear that would be to someone who doesn't know the context—and even if they did, it might be too literal, as you noted.
Where's that one of Sousuke standing next to a pile of weapons bigger than he is? It reappears and disappears at random.
Well, there's another variation◊ that makes it more obvious that those floaty things are weapons, but my problem with it is that it looks less "hyperspace" and more "arsenal".

Rhymes with "Protracted."This might be a necropost; I don't know what the forum's definition of "dead" is, but maybe we can show a screenshot of a video game character, followed by a screenshot/screenshots of his/her inventory.
With TRS and Image Pickin, bumping is always preferred.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanYup yup. I'd be interested to see 's suggestion...maybe something from one of the Diablo games?
I may be mistaken, but didn't this use to be the image? What was wrong with it?
I think it was because he was actually shown carrying all those items.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I think the last panel of this Brawl in the Family strip would work.
Can't tell what's going on very well. I'd support a pic of Sosuke with his giant pile of guns. The Gilgamesh images also work for me.

How about an image for this page? My suggestion is this◊ or this◊, although it's kind of playing the trope literally.
