I know it's not a game, but what does anyone think of the anime?
I watched a few episodes and while the characterization/tone was totally different from the games it wasn't too bad actually, for a 90s shonen type anime. Jacky was a bit too serious for my liking but his english dubbed, "I look like a pimp" is Hilarious in Hindsight.
Why didn't you finish it (again, sorry for going off-topic)?
You know, I'm not sure, I was actually enjoying it lol.
You should continue.
Anyways, to get back on-topic, anyone think the anime proved you can still do a plot while adhering to realistic martial arts?
Thread necro, but I have news;
Recently the trademark for VF was renewed by SEGA. Probably related, but Yakuza 6 is going to have VF 5 FS playable in it. I do wonder if this could mean anything for the future. Yakuza 6 is for PS 4, which means we're getting an indirect port of FS. While this is cool, I'd prefer to have an FS port for PS 4 in it's own separate form. Maybe we will. I also wonder if the Yakuza 6 version will have online like the VF 2 version from one of the past Yakuza titles.
On the subject of the anime, I did enjoy it, and I like to think that some the personalities in the anime are at least somewhat canon to the games. Like when they aren't fighting, Jacky and Akira act differently, and the way Sarah acts is hows he was before her brainwashing. Pai seems pretty spot on though.
If you can, look up the second season. It was never dubbed or subbed, but it's not hard to follow. The tone is more serious and the plot is more condensed, but overall I think of better quality than the first. You also get to see proto versions of Lei-Fei and Vanessa, under different names.
EDIT: Also found out that FS will be backwards compatible with the Xbone. Almost makes me want the console since I do have FS on 360.

Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...If only Sega AM 2 took notes from the Virtua Fighter Anime for Virtua Fighter 3, 4, and 5.
Huh. I just started watching the VF anime yesterday.
Since I know nothing about the series (beyond what I've seen in Project × Zone), it's hard to judge it's quality compared to it's source material beyond the characters hitting some stock Shonen tropes (Idiot Hero for Akira, though he seems much wiser than he lets on, Aggressive Tsundere for Pai, who seems to have been shoved into the Damsel in Distress role, and I've only just been intro'ed to Jacky and Sarah, so I can't say much beyond the fact that I was under the impression that Jeet Kun Do wasn't really a fighting style, but a specific philosophy).
One Strip! One Strip!Playing shenmue made me want to play Virtua Fighter FS again.
...Is it bad I still prefer its gameplay to Tekken 7? Tekken 7 is hype to watch and fun but VF just feels better for some reason.
Also the customization in this game is fun. And jeez Vanessa's fighting style is so awesome. Her attacks feel brutal and her ground n pound takedown throw is like, one of my favorite moves ever. I love how she completely averts the waif-fu trope. She makes Mila in DOA look like an amateur really.
If DOA gets VF characters again, they should totally get Vanessa.
Watched a bit more of this.
Honestly, while Pai is a bit of a Faux Action Girl, she doesn't do too badly most of the time. Only when the plot is specifically against her with someone who knows how to counter her, or she gets caught off guard.
Poor Sarah is certainly getting damseled hard though.
One Strip! One Strip!^Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Kage like the rival and kicks akira's butt pretty hard one episode?
Yup.
Though at the point in the series I at now, he's just helped them get Sarah back.
One Strip! One Strip!Yu Suzuki would like to return to work on a new Virtua Fighter title after Shenmue 3
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests."Shenmue III" has a knock-off of "Virtua Fighter" with chickens named "Chobu-Chan Fighter".

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."If it isn't on PS Plus next month, I see it being in Lost Judgment.
So the rumors were true after all.
Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown will feature a VF1 graphics mode!
So everyone can look fabulously blocky like in the olden days!
Oh, that's fun.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireReally going the extra mile here.
I wonder if they're considering adding any endings this time around?
Which was apparently never a thing?
It was in Virtua Fighter Kids...and that’s it.
I flat out dont know what the story of Virtua Fighter is supposed to be. It doesnt really matter to me. I do think it's funny that when Yu Suzuke went to make a game telling Virtua Fighter's story, he ended up making Shenmue instead.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireThat's honestly kinda painful to know.
I still blame Sega mostly but I'm really not all that surprised that VF went on a long hiatus after 5.
