And this week's guest is not Echo. Come on. If you're going to create her, let her in on this. Movie doll looks evil. Now I remember why I've been liking Yuuko more lately. She hasn't been revolving around food for a while. Megumi and Yuuko demonstrate they really are on the same wavelength. Makes sense seeing how they've known each other the longest. Grouchy Grandma is grouchy. Hoshiwaa gives more hints to tragic backstory. Honey Innocent Form get. Not sure how I feel about it being Honey Temptation. Uneventful overall.

Nothing to say about this week's episode. As for future ones, some more info can be read here: http://precure.livejournal.com/2714909.html (spoilers, obviously) The whole thing with Cure Tender seems a bit suspicious. Something about the way she quickly gets turned back to the side of good, and then people start to rely on her, seems off...

A bit about about the next Precure series: http://precure.livejournal.com/2715487.html The current translation is obviously unreliable, so I hope no one jumps to conclusions.

[up] Umm depends on your interests and such.

If you want to watch the best series first then Heartcatch Precure is one to go with.

The franchise can be all over the map.

[up][up]If you don't have a problem with the art style Fresh Pretty Cure is a good start. Almost any season can be a good first series, depending on what you're looking for.

I've personally watched all of Fresh, and I can say it has a good plot.

Depending on how sophisticated you like your shows, you may have to sit through a good lot of it before it gets "interesting", because it is a kids' show, after all. But if you do sit through it, you are treated to some pretty strong feels, especially what could be some real heartbreakers in the middle of the series.

In general, you can get into the series with just any season except Max Heart and Go Go because they're sequel. Also, don't watch Splash Star immediately after the original and Max Heart because of senior bias. But every season have their own charm.

  • Futari wa has a very unique dynamic between Nagisa (who herself is pretty unusual magical girl main) and Honoka while Max Heart's second movie has the most unthinkable thing in the series
  • Splash Star starts the turncoat Dark Magical Girl tradition, most visible cycle of side characters, and entertaining villains.
  • Yes 5 and Go Go have a pretty strong background development and a pretty strongly characterized Pink.
  • Fresh is where the differences in the series are really starting; art style, the narrative, the rogue gallery.
  • Heartcatch might be most extreme in term of the entire nuance, where it's drama, comedy, the action, and the sheer crazy art shift.
  • Suite has the most beautiful visual and the musics, as expected, are haunting and the plot picks up when Siren's story reveal.
  • Smile is if you want the standard magical girl story. Most of the season is filler and the plot is slightly bare-boned, but individual episodes are in variety of quality with most are in good.
  • DokiDoki is always in full myth arc, though the pacing is iffy. There's a lot of unused potential, but it's first two cours are tightly plotted.
  • You can watch Happiness Charge with us along with your current binge archive. The season has a lot of good things, though the Pink Cure is slightly boring compared with the other Cures.

Time to get back on track after slacking so much. She's the definition of cute, but she doesn't let that define her in anyway. She may be young, but she's plucky and just as useful as the others. And a legit foreigner. She's the ebullient Cure Lemonade.

Seriously, look at her. Urara is the cutest thing in the entire franchise. Ako? Yayoi? Hummy? Ribbon? They got nothing on Urara. Adorableness personified. Urara is the youngest of the Yes 5 Cures, which is noticeable at first glance. She's way smaller than her teammates after all. She does manage to be just as mature as her elders though, which may or not be surprising considering her job. She can be a bit overdramatic at times, but for the most part she's a lot quieter than one would expect from her. Certainly she gets a lot of inner monologues compared to the others, probably because she doesn't have a close friend like the others have. Ultimately, she's a bubbly joy of energy on the inside, which makes her fit right in with Nozomi and the others. Especially since she eats just as well as the rest.

In addition to school work and being a Pretty Cure, Urara is also an actress, and a pretty good one at that. It's the center of her life, and most of her story arc revolves around her struggles in trying to stand out and become recognized. So she takes on whatever role she can get. Including becoming an idol, which isn't what she wants to be. But Toei needs more merchandising money, so an idol she becomes. That's the show biz for you. And it seems like literally any time things seem to be going well for her the bad guys show up to try and ruin everything. She cannot catch a break. But she perseveres and manages to carve out some recognition. Her midseason nightmare was about her not having the time to handle both being an actress and Pretty Cure, but she resolves to find a way to make both work.

Of course she wouldn't be an actress without a tragic backstory. In her case, he mom passed away when she was young, and she wants to live up to her legacy. Plus her dad and grandpa seem to be away from her life a lot. So she had a lonely life, especially since her job meant she didn't have a chance to make friends. Until she met Nozomi. The air-headed pink Cure dragged her out of her lonely life and into the wild world of both Pretty Cure and Nozomi in general. Nozomi may be a moron, but she ends up being a major source of inspiration for Urara. Mostly since she's incredibly friendly and upbeat, but also because she has a way of getting people to go along with her ideas. Urara looks up to Nozomi and is willing to forgive her for several of her flaws, though even she is exasperated by how bad she is at school. She's a year younger, and yet she ends up tutoring Nozomi more often than not.

Since Urara doesn't have a close friend, she gets a little screwed in the relationship department. I don't think there's much to say about her and Karen. With Rin they both are close to Nozomi, and Urara ends up defending her when Rin gets a bit too harsh. Rin may feel exasperated by Urara's quirkier performances and ham on ocassion, but she supports Urara 110%. They do sometimes bash heads, but in the end they make up. As for Komachi, both of them are artists in a sense, so they bond over that. In particular, Komachi wants to write a novel that Urara can one day act out on the big screen. They make for a pretty good mellow pair actually.

Seeing how Urara sort of got screwed in season 1, Gogo gave her a fairy partner, Syrup. While Nozomi got the brunt of the story focus with him, Urara ended up closer to him on a personal level. He was particularly impressed by her dedication to her craft, especially seeing how Syrup was really apathetic about his job at times. He actually went out of his way to make sure she was fine when he thought everyone else didn't care. And he ended up giving her a super special free ride. So Urara was arguably one of the few that got better in Gogo.

As Cure Lemonade she represents effervescence. Which I don't think anyone knows what it means. As you might guess it means enthusiasm or vivacity, which describes bubbly Urara pretty well. She's surprisingly good at avoiding long periods of angst even after everything that happens to her. Which is a lot. As a fighter she's noticeably the weakest of the group. She doesn't quite have the power the others have, and her attack, while sparkly, rarely gets a kill. But she is still strong and tears up those that underestimate her. And it's easy to underestimate that cute face. And possibly fatal. Thankfully Gogo blessed her with a chain attack, allowing her to really stand out and gain a cool niche where she chained things. She was the only one besides maybe Dream that got a better attack. Her hairdo is ridiculous though. Like, I'm tempted to call it the weirdest in the franchise.

Cure Lemonade has the most laughable name in the series, and this is a series that has gems such as Cure Peach and Cure Happy. But that doesn't stop Urara from being awesome, both as a character and as a Cure. It's a joy to watch her, whether it's for silly antics or dramatic performances. She was a shining star in the already bright Yes 5.

We've got info on the next Precure series already! Not sure if I should spoiler this so tell me if you think so.

  • There will be seven main characters.
  • There will be three different teams. One of three and two other teams with two Cures a piece.
  • There will be a school for Precure.
Source is here.

I must say i love the midseason upgrade attack for Heartcatch. Creates a giant goddess who crushes evil underneath her fist, so awesome.

I definitely prefer Heartcatch's approach of making Pretty Cure into local celebrities, and that there seems to be a whole batch of media growing up around them without their really noticing.

Ban-Kun is probably my fav out of all the Precure side characters, but the fact that there is a stable set of good side characters is one of the reasons why Heartcatch is so good.

Today's guest is not Dark Cure. Movie still looks like a bore. Guess they're not bothering with a secret birthday. Oh hey, Megumi really does have a dad. Good for her. Apparently her mom is in better shape than Megumi thought. And Mugumi sulks again. Seriously, this is like the third time she's had this plot in 10 episodes. We know she feels inadequate. Go somewhere with it or stop bringing it up. Big party. So Seiji can't cheer her up, but Blue can. Figures. Oresky can't get a proper birthday party. That's a lot of mirrors this time. Poor guy. Fight felt kind of off this time. Final Innocent Form get. Hopefully Mirage is finally going to start doing something.

Does anyone know of Toei frequently takes videos of their shows off You Tube? I have frequently found full Pretty Cure episodes that get taken down.

Even worse, you get audioswapped visual-only versions taken down too.

I just can't find that one recording of Busoni's Variations on a theme of Chopin anymore...

Episode 37. Real Cure Bright is still missing. Movie still looks meh. Nice costumes. Mirage finally acknowledging her subordinates are useless. Gee, I wonder who mysterious person is. And I'm not talking about Maria. Hime wisely shares with Yuuko. Blue gets all the ladies. Seiji gets Mugumi. Iona confirmed for forever alone. More romance drivel. Megumiman saves the day again. Yuuko has her priorities all figured out. Mao has really terrible luck. Animation sucks this episode. Presumably budgeting for next episode. Can't fix Oresky yet. Enter Tender. Whether that's Phantom or not, the preview shouldn't have given it away.

Have we gotten the title for next season yet? We usually get info starting around this time with Happinesscharge! being confirmed on October 23rd of last year. From what I've heard people are worried that we might not get a season next year since we haven't gotten a title yet and Toei's other shows that share that block already have their titles.

Well, that was anticlimatic! Mirage really should have brought out Dark Tender sooner. And that song... it killed all tension in the fight. I hope we won't have to listen to it every time they use their new attack.
