As a devoted dog lover, I've really enjoyed this new season so far. Komugi in particular reminds me of Aggie, my first dog, at least so far. She was bigger than a Papillon (she was a Keeshond mix), but Komugi's personality is very similar to the way Aggie was, especially as a younger dog. In particular, they are both "Velcro dogs" and Aggie always seemed like the kind of dog who would want to become a human. Also, Komugi's official description says she's a "glutton", which definitely would describe Aggie as well.

I am actually loving this season despite there being no fights.

There is very much a Dug from Up, vibe with Komugi. In the sense of her clearly still having the mind set and limited perspective of a dog, even though she can talk now.

Regarding the fights this season is confirmed to focus on chases over punches and kicks. I didn't mind Kirakira focusing more on using cream/magic over hand to hand but I need to see how they'll handle fights going forwad once the weapon is introduced in episode 5. I was fine with the chase in episode 1 but less so in episode 2 though mostly because the monster ust stood there for awhile and they didn't really do much new with it.

Me and some friends think the pets will be purified peacefully but when the actual villains show up they will be beaten the crap out of like other villains.

I'd like to see how creative they get with the chase scenes.

So according to a translation of an interview of the staff, the reason for the lack of fights in Wonderful is because they want the season to be the opposite of Hirogaru Sky, to differentiate the two.

It will make them seem kinda silly if Wonderful underperforms in toy sales because of it.

Personally I'm waiting to see if Nyammy and Lillian use the same transformation device or not before buying anything. Current theory is that they'll have a different one from Wonderful and Friendy since the Wonderful Pact only has buttons on it in Wonderful and Friendy's colors. That might not actually mean much though so who knows. Lillian has my favorite design of the bunch though and I'm only going for merch related to her.

Seems Hirogaru Sky did better in terms of toy sales than both Tropical Rouge and Delicious Party, by fairly comfortable margin. Still not up to Healin Good's sales or most the pre pandemic seasons, but it did about the same as Go Princess and better than Splash Star.

[up] Healing Good really could not have picked a better year to premiere even if it wanted to considering reality had its own plague to deal with at the time. That and Healing Good delivered the correct message (especially you, Rabirin!); so I don't find it too surprising how well it did — just reassuring.

These two may literally be more bark than bite, but they are no less tenacious than everyone else.

Why on earth did Glitter Force a modern dub from 2015 got a 90s localization?

[up][up]Well it was done by Saban, so I assume they were using the same mindset that created Power Rangers, only with less success.

3. This episode highlights my biggest concern for the season. Komugi is the main character, but she doesn't have the life experience or emotional maturity to handle any main character duties right now. She just cares about Iroha and whatever's in front of her. So she's already getting overshadowed by Iroha trying to take this seriously and having more established relationships. The part where Iroha taught Komugi how humans drink was neat at least. Maybe I just want more of Komugi coming to terms with what's happening with her. Satoru's okay, but we got a really good nerd boy last season. If he's gonna be a Cure in 20 episodes I'll probably like his rabbit more.

[up]I'm pretty lukewarm on the series so far, but I would hardly call the stuff with Komugi a flaw of the narrative, since it's clearly treating it as a flaw that she needs to grow out of.

Hell one of the things that I can actually praise about Wonderful is that Komugi actually comes across like a dog in a human body and not a human with superficial dog traits.

4. I guess with Satoru around Iroha has no reason to actually pay attention to anything now that he can handle all the thinking stuff. Shy Mayu is still way more fun to watch than Iroha. Who said there won't be any violence in this show? We got a cat punch. Need more Yuki. At least the fight this week involved a truck, so that's something. Can we please hurry up and get the cats to transform already?

^ Based on the toy schedules, nope. The cat cures seem to be in the same predicament as Cure Butterfly.

5. As much as I think Komugi and Iroha are just okay, their bond is pretty good and pretty much the saving grace of the show so far. Though all this leash talk feels awkward now that the dog can talk and turn into a human. Wonder if we'll learn what happened to Komugi before she met Iroha. Komugi being the main character feels like a marketing gimmick with how little we're getting her perspective vs Iroha's. Hopefully next episode will fix that. Even with the ice environment the chase was still meh, so I've given up hope for those. At least Pegitan is back for whoever liked him.

[up] That's what I'm getting as well. Especially since the writing is treating Komugi more like she's a sixth Cure than the main Cure. Even the way she transforms for the first time has that sort of feel of a Sixth Ranger debut.

Kinda disappointed they don't have a group transformation, instead they transformed one at a time.

Yeah with how short each transformation is I was expecting them to get a group transformation especially because the two sets of characters are obviously visually tied together anyway.

As for my episode thoughts for stuff I liked I really do enjoy the focus on handling animals a lot. Even as someone who liked delicious party it always kind of bugged me that the food theme was so hyperfocused on the eating of the food and not any of the process so it's a nice bit. I'm also interested in the seeming through line regarding Komugi's past and how they'll eventually grapple with that (though personally if you haven't gotten her back at this point you can fuck off, my dog now). The new power up bunny ears was really nice>

As for stuff I don't like I finally realized what I hate the most about the chase focus besides it being kind of bland in execution- the girls barely ever use their other abilities besides the enhanced jumping and running. Like they've only used their barriers a grand total of......3 times? Also you could remove Satoru from this episode and literally nothing would change, his lines almost felt obligatory it was weird as hell.

I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boys
