They did think the title of this through, didn't they? I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow looking at it.

I'm really glad I knew what Katamari was before clicking on this thread.
"All worlds begin in darkness and all so end. The heart is no different."-AnsemThat was kind of the point, you do realise. They wanted the title to have innuendo because they thought it would be funny.
Very basic marketing. Give the product a name that people will talk about, get free advertising.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyIf you've played Katamari before, this title makes perfect sense.
The King of All Cosmos would totally call a game that.
Correction: He'd call it, "Touch Our Katamari."
It's more frustrating waiting for the asskicking than the asskicking itself. And if we can stop talking about the name for two seconds and talk about the game.
Goddamn, that stretching thing looks like a damn good idea. I cannot remember the number of times in Katamari I wished mine were just slightly wider or thinner, giving us the ability to control that elevated this game from "another port of Katamari" to "Yet another must have game for the Vita". Which if you're keeping score at home, brings it up to 19 titles in the launch period alone. Fuuuuuuuuck. I know S Sony are keen not to have the 3DS's no games for a year situation, but there is such a thing as overdoing it.
Sad thing is, this game, or a Katamari game in general, would fit the 3DS so well.
No it wouldn't. At all. The 3DS is single touch and unless you have that stupid extra, it only has one analog stick. Not only would you be unable to do that stretch thing at all, you wouldn't even be able to control the game itself. So, yeah, the 3DS is pretty much the last system that should ever get a Katamari game.

Roll the ball with the touch pad.
Stretch with the buttons.
Its not that hard to adapt things.
And make it like a rail shooter, since your idea has literally no way to turn around.

Or, you know, swipe the ball so it goes left or right.
Or use shoulder buttons to rotate the camera.
Or both.
I don't really see the problem.
Then you've clearly never played Katamari.
I also note how you need to thoroughly butcher the game to it will even be remotely playable on the 3DS. How do you manage to get "would fit so well" from that?
You know what, it's pretty obvious you aren't going to be swayed by anything I say, so whatever. You're right. It would be impossible to put a Katamari game on the 3DS. There's no possible way to adapt the controls to a different set-up that would ever be suitable enough to make the game katamari-y enough.
By the by, I've played every game up to Beautiful Katamari. I'd play Forever, but, alas, I have no PS3.

No, I'm not going to be swayed by you, because you didn't think this through in the slightest and are arguing a dumb point. Katamari was built on and needs twin stick controls. Putting it on a system without twin stick controls is just stupid. And touch my Katamari is built on that and twin multi-touch screens - trying to say you can replicate that with just face buttons is just complete insanity.
Yes, I'm aware of Me & My Katamari. It was a stupid idea then and its a stupid idea now. But at least they didn't try to put in ball distortion controls when the system was incapable of it.
Yeah, whatever. I honestly don't care enough to argue with you.
I stand by my idea, but I'm not going to engage in this directionless banter.
Goodbye and good-day.
Also happy Thanksgiving.
I will touch my own fried squid thank you
With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill. There are certain things you can't say with that avatar.
Thats one of them.
Damn, this game is gonna make scratches and thumbprints like nobody's business. Better get a good screen protector. Anything that uses that "repeated slide" motion is just asking for trouble.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaChanges? To my Katamari? I'm okay with this. It looks like a lot of fun, and I am interested to see how they scale up the item placements to make the squashing and narrowings more practical than cosmetic...That sounded a bit back handed...
"I know where I am, I just don't know where I am in where I am." - MeTheatrical And Proud: Scale back the aggression in your posts, if you can't be civil don't post.
I was being perfectly civil. The idea is completely stupid but I never insulted the user - closest I got to uncivil behaviour was saying he didn't think things through.
.... Pretty damn self explanatory.
