I think you should go and ask on the Anime and Manga Recommendation Thread.
Anyways, here's what I would recommend:
Sci-Fi: Gundam Unicorn, Last Exile, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Yuri: Saki
and also Sora No Woto, but there's not that much Sci-Fi to it.

Follow me on tumblr!A) Sasameki Koto's good, although the anime ends well before the end of the story(and the group scanlating the manga isn't known for their speed).
B) I think Slayers fits your description for this one, although it's fantasy.
C) I hear Victory Gundam's plenty grimdark(and not in the tongue-in-cheek Warhammer 40 K way). Evangelion should probably be on your list of things to watch(Rebuild's got a significantly lighter tone).

Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanI wish people would stop giving suggestions in these threads. A link to the anime recommendations thread should be the first and only post in these. Anything more is just encouraging these kinds of threads to be created.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.Maybe we should start reccing these people Boku No Pico.
It was a joke. God.

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone. This far in and no one's mentioned Nanoha given his stated preference? For shame.

Hello fellow tropers,
So, after years of never watching any anime, I've decided to dip my toe into the genre. And I LOVE it. So far, I've just watched a few of the famous ones (working my way through "Cowboy Bebob" and "Death Note" as we speak.)
I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations for animes that are either
a) full of Les Yay and/or canon femmeslash pairings b) full of really strong, developed female characters (not necessarily ship-bait) c) Sci-fi. Preferably darker sci-fi.
Thanks in advance!
