The Tomorrow People

Basically this is an interest check to see if anyone would want to try out a game based on this pretty cool little series. Here's a rough plot idea I've been bouncing around!

2012. Mankind is still kicking, despite any weird doomsday prophecies that suggest otherwise. But, there is one startling development that has come with the new year — the emergence of Homo Superior. With each passing day ordinary teens are finding out that they are in reality not so ordinary. For they are the next stage of human evolution.

So, that's that. I was hoping for a co-GM of sorts since I'm not entirely sure if I could run the whole thing by myself. I'm totally open to any further ideas, and I want to finish fleshing things out before putting up a signup sheet.

Hey, I remember this series!

But not much. I know there was this psuedo-japanese girl in it...and they could teleport and do telekenisis?

Yeah...so what do you need help with?

Yeah! That girl was named Hsui Tai and... she wasn't a very good actress. XD Telekinesis, Telepathy, and Teleportation were their special powers.

Basically I wanted to just throw around some more ideas. Like regarding the Tomorrow People HQ, for example.

In the original show it was an underground lab in an abandoned subway station.

In the 90s revival it was an alien space ship on some random island in the Pacific.

I'm wrestling with either incorporating elements from the original, the revival, or a mixture of both.

It's best to do a mix, in case someone doesn't know the revival or vice versa.

Yeah, ultimately that's what I was starting to lean towards. I like the idea of the HQ being a mysterious lab of sorts... Just gotta figure where exactly to base it. A school the characters all attend, perhaps?

Seems about right...This is gonna be in the ol' US of A, right?

Yeah, based in the USA. But perhaps it could be some kind of international boarding school so that we can have more than just plain ole' American kids?

The majority of the game will be based in a small little seaside town on the southern coast of England named St. Marina. It's quaint and has most of the necessary amenities, including a Tesco convenience store/supermarket. There's a school for both lower and upper years that most characters will probably attend, also. And the weather it... well, what you'd expect it to be.

I have a couple of more details to flesh out, but feel free to apply!

I'm quite interested in this too. Would you need a good knowledge about the show to participate? I can remember some of it, but not a lot.

Not really! I'll be there to help guide you along if you need it but really you can come into this blind. :D

Okay Here's my character sheet then:

• Name: Fletcher Bannatyne
• Age: 15
• Appearance: He's skinny and pale from lack of exercise and going outside, with blue eyes and short brown hair. Used to wear glasses but has been using contacts more regularly. Typically wears T-shirts and jeans, but always has his waterproof watch and spare set of glasses.
• Personality: Smart and analytical, but also sometimes condescending and quick tempered. He tends to assume the worst from others due to his experience at his old school, but is actually quite nice to people he befriends. The emergence of his powers hasn't been helping with his temper.
• Backstory: Was raised in Scotland by his single father. He got good grades in school but was constantly in trouble for talking back to teachers and wasn't very popular with the students either. They moved down to England after his father got a better paying job, and he's been acting up even more while he tries to adjust to the move.

Approved! Also, if anyone is interested there's episodes up of the 90s series. Watch it for nostalgia/reference purposes. :D

• Name: Regina "Reggie" Grayson
• Age: 15
• Appearance: Long blonde hair, blue eyes, freckles, slim build. Usually wears t-shirts, jeans, and comfortable sneakers. Wea
• Personality: Reggie has a prickly exterior that makes her hard to get to know. She uses her sarcasm as a shield, which spares her the trouble of dealing with undesirables. It also helps her deflect any pesky responsibilities that may land in her lap. She's infamously lazy.
• Backstory: A native of New York, Reggie's family consisted of two loving yet workaholic parents, and a know-it-all little sister. She never hung out much with other kids her age, and when she did they were usually of questionable nature. Still, she was a pretty good kid who (mostly) stayed out of trouble. Her life took a turn when her parents got heavily involved in a project that would require them to move halfway across the world. Instead of taking Reggie and her sister with them it was decided they would spend the year with a relative in St. Marina. Packing up and moving to England was no easy feat, though Reggie reasoned it was better than freezing her butt off where her parents were going. Sigh.

Try running on Roll 20, posting a LFG. Mutants and Masterminds is a very good system for tomorrow people. Since the powers are mostly static (everyone in the party has them), GURPS would work too. You will likely need to deviate from book suggestions for PL & PP (M&M) or starting point value (GURPS).
