Now I wanna talk about this video game that acts like a movie. It is about a man who possessed of murdering a man in a diner at the middle of the night. He is trying to find out the truth behind it; it doesn't help the fact that the cops are after him.

On to the three characters:

  • Lucas Kane - the male protagonist trying to find out the truth behind the murder.
  • Carla Valenti - the female protagonist who is in pursue of Lucas.
  • Tyler Miles - Carla's partner who is also in pursue of Lucas.

I actually like the much-maligned system of Action Commands. Hear me out—when the sequences are well-animated (which, admittedly, they sometimes aren't), Lucas does some cool stuff, much cooler than typically appears in interactive sequences in games. It's Cutscene Power to the Max as actual gameplay. (Granted, I think the designers learned exactly the wrong lesson in trying to apply this to their later Heavy Rain—they added even more Action Commands, and overstuffed what should have been a slower-paced, more down-to-earth story.)

Overall, I greatly enjoyed the first two-thirds of the game. It's still the only game that's made me go "Ohmygodwhatthefuck" twice in one playthrough (first when Lucas's office was invaded by giant insects, then when Lucas started dodging bullets.) The ending's godawful, but at this point, everyone's well aware of that.

Edit: Just realized that the game's page was never linked.
