Awesome, he makes such great villains. I hope he is a klingon!

Why not Khan himself. A Movie version of Sleeping Tiger crossed with Wrath...

My first thought was "Damn, when did Guillermo Del Toro start acting?!" Please tell me that's not a bad thing.tongue

Anyway, as you can tell, I have no clue who the actor is. Hell, I haven't been following the Star Trek sequel at all. Hopefully it's all good.

No doubt he'll play a villain from the Original Series, one who had nefarious plans, and squared off directly against Kirk and Spock...

Garth of Izar.

[up]I'd love it if they made a movie version of "Arena".

No Khan, that would be fucking awful.

  1. Retreading a TOS plot this fast shows nothing but intellectual bankruptcy.
  2. It will immediately invite, no demand, comparisons between the two films forcing direct comparisons between each version of Kirk, each of Khan, and in general both films will be forced to play against the other and given what a high water mark II is I doubt anyone will be giving XII a fair shake.

No Klingons

  1. See the first point of the first list.

Wasn't there an episode of TOS where a Romulan captain said something like "In another life I could have called you friend."

Perhaps Star Trek XII could feature that Romulan, and thanks to changes in the timeline he does become Kirk's friend.

That would be very interesting, though given that the Romulan Commander was never given a name, I guess the only way you'd identify him is by having Ben Cross play him too.

[up][up]That is an excellent idea.

[up]You could drop enough hints to make it pretty obvious without outright stating it.

I fully support that idea. Just make the hints not glaringly obvious and it'd be fine.
