I wish we'd get rid of DST already... what point does it even serve any more?
Especially annoying is that where my GF is doesn't observe DST... so now I have to get up at 5AM to have a real chance to talk to her, when 6AM was already pretty early. Ugh.
Apparently I am adorable, but my GF is my #1 Groupie. (Avatar by Dreki-K)It ended last week
Dutch LesbianDepends on where you are. Different countries begin and end DST on different dates. The OP forgot to mention they're talking about the US.
Here in the US, it's become a game of "What day does DST end this year?" since the politicians keep moving the date around because they can't bring themselves to just get rid of it and save us all the grief.

Apparently I am adorable, but my GF is my #1 Groupie. (Avatar by Dreki-K)I hate DST. Mostly because my girlfriend lives in Phoenix, and 7 hours of time difference is hard enough without it being 8 hours, since AZ doesn't move the clocks. Glad to see the back of it for another year :)
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.Bleh... DST is should be like the draft: non-existent until some seriously hardcore military shit goes down...
I am now known as Flyboy.Russia (the western European portion, anyway - it has nine time zones down from eleven iirc) decided not to do it this year. Pretty sure that caused a bit of chaos...
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.DST should be latitude specific. Driving to work in the mornings I go a longer route if it's dark because driving in is dangerous by the short route in the dark. Thus I like DST. Better lighting of country roads would be even better but never gonna happen.
That said, having DST in areas where sunrise and sunset stay pretty constant is dumb.
I dunno, I live north-ish, and DST doesn't seem to have that much effect at all, really. Once winter gets here it's still pretty much twilight or dusk early in the morning and early in the evening, even with DST's supposed "help".
Apparently I am adorable, but my GF is my #1 Groupie. (Avatar by Dreki-K)Yes, I forgot to mention that. But back on topic for US DST.
Maybe you get an extra hour of sleep...
^^^ The thing I don't like about DST is the changeover means tomorrow the Sun will set behind the mountain at nearly 430 PM. I know tomorrow morning it will be bright as hell at 7 AM when the past 2 weeks meant the Sun wasn't even up yet, but that will only last about 3 weeks before it's dark at 7 AM again and the Sun setting behind the mountain happens at roughly 415 PM.
I hate how winter is dark.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."I like Daylight Saving Time. Without it, we wouldn't get the sun until mid-morning in winter.

We went back onto GMT/UTC at the end of October. I like UTC better than BST. BST served its purpose during the war and can bugger off now.

Yeah, that's pretty much my gripe with it. I get maybe an extra half-hour of sunshine in the morning when I don't really care, and then it's dark in the evening which is when I actually get to do stuff. I'd rather have it the other way around and get that extra hour of light later in the day.
...I guess that means if we absolutely have to have DST, I'd rather it be backwards (spring back, fall ahead), so you get that extra hour during the time of year you actually need it.
Apparently I am adorable, but my GF is my #1 Groupie. (Avatar by Dreki-K)Lattitude-specific DST makes sense. Hawaii doesn't recognize it, but we're around 20-degrees north so it would be rather pointless to use it anyway.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold. And I want it changed back already. Yesterday the Sun set behind the mountain at 437 PM and was dark before 540 PM.
Either set DST at a set interval or (more appreciably) abolish it altogether. Keep the time shifted to the later sunsets since I don't want to have to deal with the peak of summer having a sunset at 715 PM.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Exactly, I agree with Jeysie. It's even worse since we're so far east in the time zone. Even if I had to get up early I wouldn't care much about the time it got light in the morning. I care a lot more about when it gets dark in the afternoon.

Just a reminder that Daylight Saving Time ends tomorrow, so we'll have to set our clocks back one hour so we'll get an extra hour of sleep. Story
