One of my favorite niche RTS', I only got brief amounts of time to play both versions of this game but in both cases I loved it, maybe even over Star Craft which is pretty much my favorite RTS.

Kingdoms with the Atlanteans was always fun, and Regular TS had a nice amount of variety with the kind of armies you could build, I always thought.

Anyone else a fan of these series'?

Never touched Kingdoms myself but I played a lot of TA classic back then. I also got all the expansions and the official DLC units (mobile anti-missile defenses never worked but everything else was ok). Used to love turtling up a humongous base with all the top tier units but when I replayed it recently I got bored of being able to wipe out multiple Hard A.I.s by touring with a group of T1 tanks (works for both ARM and CORE).

I always preferred my aerial assaults, myself. I loved how in TA air units made runs instead of hovering and firing, something that always mildly irritated me in Blizzard games.

something I always loved about the TA was that attacks could actually miss. Never has Homing Boulders been so gloriously averted!

[up][up] Yep. Dogfights are absolutely amazing in the original series. However, an angry swarm of horn- er, gunships is usually required to do decent damage as neither faction seems to have invented the Norden bombsight.

I played those games ages ago, and they where awesome. My usual strategy was to build a huge wall of missile turrets that turned any advancing army into scrap metal, then use the cover of said missile turrets to absorb the tons of metal the enemy was feeding me to use to create and army of robots and tank to crush the opposition.

Sometimes it took hours. I wish I had free time like that again.

And the mods! So many custom units! Never played the same game twice.
