Some day mangaka will figure out how to write actual romantic relationships that have gone past the confession stage.

This relationship writing is the norm for a lot of works, but there are plenty of exceptions.

Ore Monogatari, Baby Steps, Jitsu wa Watashi Wa, and Paradise Kiss do the post-hook up relationship thing pretty well. There's probably more examples.

Honestly, Raku and Chitoge have basically been in a relationship for months so it's not clear what else the author can show.

It was a de facto relationship, not an actual one.

Lots of a romance Anime/manga do that actually; you make two characters act like a couple, but they aren't actually a couple. Makes it so annoying when they make a big deal out of confessing when they basically act married anyway.

Would it be real unromantic of me to point out that this isn't the first time Raku promised he'd wait for someone?

No, seriously, they basically switched one childhood promise for another. This, coupled with just how incredibly cliché the whole "confess, split up, reunite on the last page" thing is, kind of irks me.

Well, whatever. Last chapter coming up with a centre colour. Hope they'll be able to exceed expectations on the pay off.

Err, no. This isn't a childhood promise. This is someone being understanding of another's position and feelings.

It is silly that Chitoge is being left out right now but I do like that she didn't just go back to high school and that she has a career path to follow.

The whole "I must leave for some time to follow my dream" thing would feel less like a cop out if that dream was a part of her character through the series. But it wasn't so it feels like a cop out.

[up]True, that.

However, that was actually a decent chapter in my opinion. It surprised me to find it a bit bittersweet at seeing the pages where there was no dialogue at all, only a montage of them finishing their lives as high-schoolers. It used to be so noisy, and now, only the original four was left just like in their first year... Made me a bit teary-eyed, I guess...

Her not knowing what she wanted to do with her life and looking for it was a fairly present thing. It got brought up a couple of times, at least.

Here we go again. So what will it be? Will Chitoge get her happy ending? Or will some calamity have befallen her? Will Absence Make The Heart Go Yonder? And what does Marika have up her sleeve? "Let's all get married" was mentioned in the Summer of Promises, after all (personally, I think that would be a terrible cop-out, but who knows what Komi is thinking).

Onodera got pregnant and dropped out of high school. Marika's operation was a failure, dooming her to life of twisted bitterness like her mother. Yui had to go through an arranged marriage and is actually perfectly happy with it despite initial misgivings.

No way Kosaki got pregnant and dropped out of high school. First, we see her graduate. Second, she's too hung up on Raku to get into that kind of trouble. Third, they were so close to graduation that even if she did get pregnant, she'd still finish.

Okay. She became a prostitute after graduating and hangs out downtown turning tricks for crack.

Better?

Do you think there'll be a plot twist in the end? I mean, when the author decides to go 'Fuck it, Chitoge will turn out to be an alien and invade Bonyari High' kind of thing.

Not be confused with casting an illusion, which is something a magician does.

Well this would be a really lame twist: 12 years later, Chitoge still hasn't returned. Nothing happened to her except that she became a workaholic like her mother.

Best twist is no twist by now. Most people reading this either want the ride to end so they can move on with their lives, or are in it for a pure happy end.

Maybe both? Definitely both

Kosaki didn't become a prostitute. She, however, did become a stripper.

Which is totally a thing that happened, because Magical Patissier.

That was just the beginning of her descent, NDC. After she got addicted to crack stripping just wasn't enough anymore.
