There was a Nisekoi girl who was popular enough as to appear in a multicrossover gag manga, as to appear as a Super Mario Maker skin, and to appear as an assist in that Shounmen Jump Fighting videogame.
Hint: It wasn't Onodera.
I kind of like Onodera myself, and at least she's better than her counterpart of Sairenji Haruna, but the main problem with her is she isn't credible as the source of Raku's incredibly creepy inhabiliting obsession, which ends up becoming an impeding stalling obstacle for the core plot's development more than actually driving it ahead. That's why she's problematic, but otherwise she's one of the best 'girl next door' types out there. She's suitably mousy, incompetent and unremarkable, while someone like Haruna mostly comes as too glitzy and glamorous to be believable in the role.
It's telling I find her more likable in the Magical Patissier spinoff, where *she* isn't the idealized one (in-universe, her alterego is; meta-wise, both sides come as fittingly pathetic) and instead is the fallible constant butt of the joke.
And that crossover was ridiculous from its very premise. How many orders of magnitude separated those characters? 20? 30?
Chapter's out.
RIP Onedera. You just sunk your own ship, cuz Last Confession Wins after all.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Welp, sorry Kosaki, you're too late. But kudos for spitting it out nonetheless, even knowing it's hopeless now.
Or twist: Raku accepts, they hook up, go home, and Chitoge is left alone forgotten.
He's crying because he's just imaging all the sex he could have had if she had just spoken up sooner. She's crying because she's a wet rag.
Not really. No matter what they did, there was still the matter of getting caught cheating on Chitoge sparking a gang war, with Raku himself as a primary target.
I still suspect the gangsters wouldn't even remember how to start a gang war if it came to it. Okay, Claude might, but just because he's that much of a sicko.
I just want this dramatic moment to be ruined by someone noticing them and wondering "What the heck are those two crying about?"
And that is what happens when you don't make a move Onodera.
Chapter's out early. SS Onodera confirmed sunk with all hands
deviantArt | Twitter"I hope I can taste your cooking".
Aw, lil' Raku wanted to commit a double suicide. How romantic. <3
Onodera: "What kind of face am I wearing right now?"
Ruri: "Pretty sure most people would call that an orgasm face."
I honestly have to appreciate the story saying 'Screw the childhood marriage promise.' I hate those so much.
I know I should probably feel really bad for Onodera, but I just can't. I've been waiting for this ship to sink for a very long time.
I'm still holding out for Chitoge to reject him.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I'm so pleased that Raku rejected Onodera without even knowing that Chitoge likes him.
Now that you mention it, that is pretty cool.
Incidentally: Ding-dong, the ship has sunk! Seriously, boys and girls, that's what you get when you wait to long. People change, feelings change, and by the time you've finally grown the pair and confessed you might find that your crush is one way or another unavailable.
To be fair, he does suspect that she does.
I like the way this went down. His feelings didn't completely change; he just wants to go in a different direction more now.

Pffft, Onodera hits the bottom of the sea. I can't feel bad for her when she has no one to blame but herself for this outcome.
And yeah, for as proudly cliche series as this one, going "screw the childhood promise, I love someone else now!" is a pretty bold move.
It figures you come back after her ship is sunk.
I'd feel bad if Onedera wasn't such a cardboard cutout and how blatant her role as a Romantic False Lead was, but it was handled well at the very least.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. It's not like I intentionally dropped it or something. I missed one or two chapters, and couldn't find the time or motivation to catch up until now.
"Time to watch this ship buuuuurn"
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Onodera should have played the only card she's got that can beat Chitoge: Sister threesome.
Pointless because we already know it's Onodera!
