Which sucks since Double Arts was really good.

To be quite honest, that sort of plot is the kind of thing a smart person would either hand to someone more skilled or hang onto until they themselves are more skilled.

[up] I kind of agree. Double Arts is somewhat Nisekoi's opposite in the sense that it's not as cliche-filled, but the execution, while decent, was not particularly noteworthy.

Still, I was really sad when that series got cancelled.

If he can somehow consistently make the Top 5 or something, maybe he can revive it?

Not how the business works. He would have to consult with Shueisha, and business people talk in dollars and cents. They'll see a slow-seller and say no.

But Nisekoi is being popular to an unprecedented extent for a romance without ecchi in a Shounen magazine. I'm sure Naoshi is somewhat satisfied with just having a cult following for the work that never was. Not like he can do anything in his position, so it's the best he can ask for.

I'd like him to at least cover a spiritual successor one day. Until then, I'll support Nisekoi.

You guys seen the first volume cover?

Here you go.

Pretty cool if you ask me.

But I've been wondering: WTH is the with X on Raku's head?

It's the scar he got from a dog in his early childhood.

The X is a hair dec.

That's neat cover art. Gives you an idea of how Onodera and Chitoge treat Raku.

Love that little ache effect where Chitoge is grabbing him. It's subtle.

Raku looks pretty distressed on the cover. Poor guy tongue

But I have to say that the uniforms are pretty cool.

[up]Did something happen. Why is there so few volumes? Were there problems with shipping?

[up]No, the small stock is because its sales are ridiculously high for a new series.

[up]Damn I knew it was popular, but not that it was this popular.

Looks like we don't have to worry about early cancellation. Naoshi hit the bullseye this time. grin

I'm not surprised. Nisekoi has still yet to drop off the top half of Weekly Shonen Jump's Table of Contents, so it's obvious that Volume 1 would have amazing sales. If it doesn't top this week's sales charts, it's because the standard first printing of said volume was tiny compared to demand.

I wonder what makes this manga so popular. Yeah, I love it but i didn't expect it to actually gain this much of popularity. Pleasant surprise this is.

BTW are those table's of contents to be found on-line I would like to check them out.

Note that the first 8 chapters of a new series, and any colour pages, are not ranked. Nor are the final few chapters.

Wait, so how does this work exactly? They decide on the order in which the manga are put in magazine based on what? Popularity the previous chapter had? But how do they check that out?

Have you read Bakuman? Every issue has an accompanying survey where people list their 3 favourite chapters that week. They do a sample and tabulate how many people voted for each series. The mangaka get told right away, but the Table of Contents are ordered in a way that's influenced by what the scores were for the issue eight weeks ago.

Nope, never read Bakuman. tongue

so wait the table of contents indicates how popular the series were eight weeks earlier?

I would like to know the logic behind having it ordered by how popular they where almost two months ago.

I'm just as confused as you are.
