That's just speculation from the BRS wiki. It may just have been a random background character.
^The bit about Saw, anyway.
It's been fun. What the OVA implies shouldn't be considered as canon for this series. Even the Otherworld's exact nature seems to have changed.
Yeah, this episode pretty much confirms that.

Different projects, different people behind it, different interpretations (although some remain slightly alike), different canon.
Feel free to look around. They didn't change Dead Master or Shooter; they're not going to change Strength, either.
It's been fun....BRS and DM are both redesigned and have a somewhat different relation to the humans. If you mean that they correspond to the same character, the OVA never confirmed that Yuu and STR had anything to do with each other
^I meant in terms of general connection, and it's fairly obvious that Yuu was STR in the OVA.
It's been fun.I was also referring to the game and manga, but...
Feel free to look around.— watches episode 2 —
Huh. Don't really care about the characters, but they're entertaining enough to watch and oh yeah they have this totally awesome otherworld where random awesome stuff happens.
It's actually really cool how they work all the stuff from the real-world interactions into the Otherworld.
It's been fun.Macaron barrage!!
then, Armored Core 5 Overring.....
Gatling Good time!

What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...I was like all More Dakka when that happened.
The best way to think of the OVA is like a 50-minute pilot. That's really the only way its existence correlates to the show in terms of continuity.
That being said, I miss the "Magical Girl Persona" concept.

Oh, that figma looks epic. *looks down at the name*
..... Cluster F-Bomb. Well, I'm just joking, but do you expect me to believe that Mato will have a full blown mental breakdown? It'll still be entertaining to watch, but it is out of the left field. I just hope they try to justify it. Somehow.
Full Battle Mode^Historically speaking, Insane Black Rock Shooter is a merger of Black Rock Shooter and Black Gold Saw, so whether they stick with that should be interesting to see. Either way, if she's got a Figma, she can't not show up in the anime...
It's been fun.Merge? ... Crap. I'm just extrapolating though, so it's unlikely but...
Full Battle Mode"Historically"? I thought the merging was a fanmade theory...
Feel free to look around.Holy crap, what? o_o
huke's Deviant Art gallery has had 'Insane Black Rock Shooter' for ages. 'Twas even my wallpaper for a bit!
@DL: Like disruptor said, she's been around for a long time. It may just be a fan theory, but the fact that so many of her design elements - that saw-sword, the addition of red to her eyes (and her overall theme of purple), the fact that I think she gets flames in both her eyes (where BRS' is her left eye and BGS' is her right)... there are just a lot of lines that can be drawn. Whether or not it's true is up in the air.
It's been fun.Hm, may or may not be based on anything in the show. Theoreticals getting figures isn't exactly unheard of, and I'm not sure how they could do that with the way they've set things up
That's a fan-theory. There is no history attached to the characters

^I said 'historical' to mean that it's the commonly-accepted fan theory, the one I've heard the most often, and the one I've heard from the farthest back.
It's been fun.
Well, the whole timeline is a little confusing. At the very least, we know who Strength's real self is from the OVA, but doesn't Black Gold Saw's avatar pass by Mato on the train at one point?
It's been fun.
