The sad, REAL American dichotomyI like it, moreso than the current image.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I like three the most.
Fight smart, not fair.Three's the best, yeah.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I'd say 2 + 3, as the dude's shadow completely obscures his foot and the other guy's head and makes it a little hard to tell exactly what's going on.
The one getting stomped on is a girl. A tomboy, so it's not that clear, so I thought I'd clarify.
I think I'll combine 1 and 3. Not sure which to be on top. Probably 3.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyFrom The Shawshank Redemption:
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon Stewart
Yeah, that picture's much too dark.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter! The previous was from a youtube video; here is a screenshot of the same scene from the DVD. (Perhaps if someone could find a youtube video lighter than the DVD that would be helpful.)
And here is something from the DVD of a later beatdown from the same movie....
And another one...
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon Stewart
Mine were pulled from youtube too, but that doesn't change that (to me) they're a lot clearer.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI agree, the DBZ images are clearer to me.
Almost ready for a crowner?

Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Could we get a crowner here?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyLightened the last Shawshank image.
(BTW, the answer to the question "what's in his hand?" is: "a billy club". Not relevant.)

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I think this is one of those tropes where the clear examples are not family friendly. I'd suggest no image or one that suggests the beatdown without being explicit.
The trope is called "No-Holds-Barred Beatdown". It's not the most family friendly of pages to begin with. That said, it is a good point, so I'll neither vote that option up or down.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI like the Girl Genius one◊ best.
Rhymes with "Protracted."We can describe family unfriendly stuff without being explicit. That's not always appropriate, sometimes we can't pull our punches, so to speak. But here we're describing beating someone to a bloody pulp after they've stopped fighting. That's something that can be captured in words pretty well, but still too full on when pictured properly.
So examples the the DBZ one seem weak to the point of inaccuracy: can't tell for sure the figure on the ground is disabled, or that that's a major injury past the point of (normally) calling off a fight — could easily be "cartoon violence". Since this particular image picking game is tilted against us so much, I'd suggest not playing it.

Let the votes decide.
And I already said I wouldn't vote "no image" either up or down.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyAgreed that an effective image might be a bit gory. Ideally it should be something like the one on Nightmare Face, but I don't have any with me.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. That is probably my favorite suggestion :D
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Bump for votes...right now the leader's at +1 and the rest are in the red.
This trope is pretty much Family Guy's bread and butter, so it's strange it took this long for the series to get mentioned. First off, this scene is a gold mine of potential images.
Also, I've come up with specific screenshots from other Family Guy examples mentioned on the trope page. (And then some.)

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartI didn't think it was possible, but my opinion of Family Guy just got lower.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
I'm forcing myself to watch the Videl/Spopovich fight from Dragon Ball to pull an image to use. I hated that fight, for the very reason it belongs on this page.
The things I do for you people.
Downloading Psychonauts off Steam, so this video is buffering extra slowly. While I wait, I would have to say that Girl Genius last panel could work on its own. In the Ratigan scene and what may happen with this Videl scene, pulling a still from a video clip may cause it to lose a lot in the process. The same wouldn't be the case for comics.

Take 2:
