I was quite disappointed that there wasn't a topic for this series. Anyway to start off the first three seasons were the best, five and six were a cluster of wall bangings and terrible ideas and season eight...wait, what season eight?

Comparing the first three seasons to the last five seasons is difficult because of the tone and character shifts. There are things of the fist three seasons I loved and hated but the same holds true for the last five.

This is where my signature is.

The thing that bugged me the most was Cole, they really could have handled that better.

Yeah really, 5 and 6 were wall banging annoying at time.

I, honestly, enjoyed the hell out of seasons 3-5(and part of 6). Cole made them amazing.

But my biggest problem with the later seasons of Charmed was the fact that after Prue dies, the whole "personal gain is bad" Aesop is all but forgotten... Or was I just imagining things?

No you're right and apparently you're intolerant. Too much arc fatigue and focus on the romantic entaglements.

Thoughts on the Season nine comics?

Charmed is my guilty pleasure. XP

@Swish: Pretty sure you're imagining things. The sisters had personal gain come to bite them in the butt after Prue's death.

Piper had some major Character Derailment during the last few seasons I thought what with her divorcing Leo (even though they do get back together, but it still seemed pointless).

Why did Shannon Doherty leave?

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

Because of stupid plot points that was focused on later seasons, like love interests and stuff instead of the importance of innocents and sisterhood like the earlier seasons.

Creative differences. Anyway the first three seasons were better and the characters were definitely derailed, plot holes like the cleaners were introduced and the status of the Charmed Ones being the most powerful witches was cast aside for this unheard prophecy that was a complete ass-pull because Witches and White Lighters were forbidden to have relationships but we know how that went and it just happened to match this unheard of prophecy until it was made a plot point.

[up]More like Doherty was considered a poison behind the scenes... No one liked her, or her attitude with regards to the show itself. And Shannon didn't seem to want to stay on the series at all.

She says creative differences, Alyssa and Holly say she was an utter bitch. I'm betting on the latter...

Thumped: for taking troll bait. Feeding a troll. Bad idea. Don't try to fix a troll, just use the holler button. Moderators have remedies.

This thread is for fans of the show. A person's dislike of it are not of interest here.

But I am a fan and I have been trying to discuss things. Why was I thumped?

Anyway what does everyone think of the usage of Power of Three for the Season eight finale? I thought it was odd.

Falling for bait, changing the discussion to a person, rather than the topic.

Anyway what are your thoughts on how badly the focus on more personal stuff and less on the innocents affected the show.

It didn't.

The focus on personal issues in the later seasons didn't occur more than in the first three... The personal issues were the only reason they found innocents in the first three/four seasons to begin with... And similar situations occurred in the later seasons in which innocents are found because of personal issues.

The reason why it seems like there is less of a focus on the "innocents" in the later seasons is because the evils the Charmed Ones are fighting are more "global" disasters(affecting the world or the whole magical community) instead of being the localized ones that were present in the first few seasons(when the Charmed Ones were just getting used to their powers and would have died if Balthazaar/the Source showed up in season one to kill them).

Well what about the episodes that didn't focus on those global threats. Like Phoebe's obsession to find her daughter's father.

As opposed to Prue's obsession to find out if Andy is "the one" through the whole of season 2?

Do you think that the Charmed Ones aren't supposed to have lives outside of their magic? Or would you rather we just don't hear about any of it?

If it's the latter, how freaked out do you become when one of the sisters starts acting "out of character" or a new character is introduced that everyone knows but the viewer because s/he didn't see any part of the girls' lives outside of magic?

I can understand not liking specific characters, or storyline, just because you dislike it. But they didn't really change the system the Charmed Ones worked with(save for season 8), all that much between the seasons, save for getting more "global/magical" instead of local...

Oh trust me I don't thinks like that in the earlier seasons were grating as well. I never said they couldn't focus on the personal aspects of their lives, but not at the sacrifice of characterization.

Certain developed powers and relationship drama was just overplayed a bit too much, not to mention all the retcons that didn't make sense.

So can we please have responses from people who want to discuss the show without sparking an argument.

Piper was my favorite Charmed one, but I liked Prue and Shannen Doherty a lot. What's interesting is I got into Charmed after Shannen left.

Which is a shame because the later seasons are definitely worse.
