I'm kind of surprised that construction lobbyists go for the Republicans more than the Democrats...
I am now known as Flyboy. Many republicans faovour getting rid of current building codes or drastically altering them.
It means the construction companies can cut more corners and keep more profit out of the total cost, instead of using it to build a structure to code.

Who watches the watchmen?Ah, true. When it said construction, I thought labor unions, but I guess I may be thinking a bit too far in the past, no?
I am now known as Flyboy. There are plenty of unions still but the companies themselves are another story. Not all construction is unionized. In Omaha, NE a lot of it is. Especially the electricians, plumbers, and carpenters.
Who watches the watchmen?Ah. Well, nothing else on that list particularly surprises me.
I am now known as Flyboy. That link really gives credence to the idea that the people who make money by making numbers dance a funny jig have really gone completely out of control. The fact that their primary contenders for bribery are 'Other' and "Miscellaneous' also creeps me the fuck out.
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed. It appears that "Other" is much more individual schools/universities.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryUSAF: Unions would be under "labour".
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.Yeah, you can click on any of the names to get more details. For example: I'm a little sad/confused to see PwC so high on the list of "Finance/Insurance/Real Estate" contributors. (I'm going into accounting, and PwC is one of the big 4 accounting firms) Why in the world are they paying so much?
Now here is something interesting: Blue Cross/Blue Shield spends more money Lobbying than any other Insurance company. Also, Insurance companies lobby more than any other industry

USAF713 on his phone or iPod.I remember on the 53% blog or something, this rabble about how much money unions give.
Yeah, according to that site, it's actually not that much. The difference is, there's far fewer unions (SEIU and Teamsters already cover a good percentage of all union employees), and the unions don't use the tricks corporations do; having individual employees donate the maximum non-reportable sum, or oscuring the source of the money with private foundations.

the statement above is false
I have no idea what to talk about using the information from this site. It could be relevant to the election thread or the Occupy thread (pulling two threads out of my hat) or both at the same time.
This thread is to talk about any information people would like to discuss that they find on this website. Goodness knows there is a LOT of information to go through.
To start us out: In a perfect world, interest groups would chose one party to back and give all their donations to that party. Too bad that they hedge their bets so much. (CLOSELY related to the Occupy thread)
