It's mostly permanent, but after you complete the Den of Evil, Akara can give you one re-do.
BTW, saiga, you mentioned looking at the wiki in the other thread. Don't bother with the wiki, The Arreat Summit is the site you need for all info you could want on D2!

XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider! When I'm out of town and forced to rely on my seven-year old laptop, Diablo II is one of the few games it can run, and replaying it never seems to get old. Wonder if we'll be able to say as much about D3 in 2024.
D3 will probably work on a seven-year-old laptop in 2024, yes.
EDIT: Since I've got D2 and LoD from my D3 CE, I'll probably play them at some point just to muck around. Are there still B.Net servers for it? Or am I stuck with offline/Open? Also, I plan to try Druid as well, as it's the only class I never played. Their abilities seem all over the place though, so I have no idea where to start looking on that front.

@Blissey
Thanks, I've got it bookmarked!
Closed Bnet servers are still available; one of Blizzard's perks is long-term server support.
For druid, elemental is the sorcerer lite subclass, werecritter is the melee subclass; you usually don't want to mix those two because they have contradictory aims (exception being if you're going for Fire Claws synergy). Summoning gives pets and aura support that are good to back up either of the two other trees, although it's not that terrific as a main tree. The nice thing about summoning is that it doesn't eat a whole lot of points to be reasonably useful, so you can get your main tree fleshed out and stick spare points into summons.
You do get one respec per difficulty, so you can play around a little, but you'll want to figure out the focus of your build early on. I'd recommend just sticking points into anything you feel is interesting just to see how the skills work, and then burning your Normal respec on getting a regular build once you figure out what skills suit your preferences.
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.Odds are the better setups include focusing all your points into one spell and it's respective synergies/passive bonuses. I really don't get how people managed to beat normal in earlier versions due to the whole spending points on low level spells being bad thing.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.Yeah I definitely hoarded my skill points like crazy the first time I played through D2. And then suddenly I was all like "Level 20 Whirlwind, suck it!".
The Dire Wolves ability looks super sweet. Might go werewolf-y with the druid.
I never really got into transformation as the druid. Why should I get in your face when I can do all sorts of fire and ice spells and summon a fair crowd of minions?
I also tended to completely ignore curses as the Necromancer, and I did just fine.

Well, Normal simply isn't that hard. Having a screwy build doesn't truly come back to bite you until Hell.

Honestly there isn't a lot that interests me in the druid tree so I don't think that will be a problem. I just like being a goddamn WEREWOLF.
Why does my necromancer have it so easy when it comes to getting stuff? He's got like 6 unique items already without any magic find equipment, and he's only level 27. My paladin's like 42 and he's only got 5 throughout the entire Normal mode and the first act of Nightmare mode.
Also, Duriel is a cheating fuck. I had a suit of armor immune to freezing and he still fucking froze me.
EIGHT GLORIOUS SIDESTo be fair, the pally freeze aura also effects cold immune mobs.

XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider! That's because Duriel uses a special demonic cold effect or something like that. What you want for countering it is freeze length reduction and thawing potions, at least if I remember right.
I've heard Duriel is quite the bastard.
Yes. Yes he is.
So I got a little bit farther—to be honest, I'm starting to get bored of Diablo I (its a nice break from all the fighting games I play though) but, anyway:
After awhile I had problems with inventory space. For the longest time I kept thinking I had to sell crap I don't want, and just now I discovered you can simply drop it on the ground and it won't disappear (this is true, right? I mean Wirt isn't gonna steal it or something is he?) so now that's what I do, if its something I really want to keep.
One question: Do you ever get anything that illuminates the entire dungeon? I hate the whole darkness-radius thing. I prefer visibility.
visit my blog!Duriel still cheats. I'm gonna loathe fighting him on Nightmare mode, even with a Hammerdin.
So, should my next class be a Sorceress or an Amazon? Both seem good at ranged.
EIGHT GLORIOUS SIDESI don't think so, but I never played D1 the whole way through because D2 is a vastly superior game.
So I just died, against Coldcrow in the cave. Are my items gone forever if I don't go all the way back and retrieve them? And I got smashed by Coldcrow and her many, many, many minions. So if I go back to her I'm going to be killed again, especially seeing as how I have no equipment.
naw, save and quit then comeback and your gear will be in town. Except any gold you were carrying, that will be gone.
and yes, coldcrow is a bitch, especially on higher difficulties.

XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider!Oops... I thought I was level 6, only level 5. No wonder I got destroyed. Any tips for taking her on?
And do the enemies in the Cave respawn after a set amount of time?
Always keep in mind, if someone is wrecking your shit, skip them! Come back in a level or 2. Especially coldcrow, she's really bad for melee.

Wait, skill choice is permanent? Looks like I better be careful then, fortunately I've only been investing in the Werewolf skill and Lycanthropy so I haven't made any mistakes so far.
