Wouldn't that be intentional, given the context?
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.I can see both sides...we probably need Eddie or a mod to weigh in on this.
I think more than one mod should weigh in.
This mod thinks that we remove the stockphoto image and fake one with a tvtropes watermark. One of the few times I like self-referencing. Especially if the photo is of the logo or someone's teeth or something.
And if someone knows how to do that and is willing to.
Ok, I can agree with that, as long as it looks like a real watermark — that is, it's the ghostly grey that's usually used. I clearly didn't think it all the way through when I put that one on there.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'd do it but I don't have any pic editing programs fancy enough to add watermarks...at least, I don't think I do.
Just came across this. We do not need to demonstrate a watermark. Especially right after we say we can't use them, period. Sort of a logic problem with that.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI think we could show one for an example here.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.I suppose if we have found the last person on the Internet who does not know what a watermark looks like, we could provide them a link to a watermarked image on another site.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI put the images up there because there was apparently a lot of confusion between a watermark and a bug, with a number of folks in IP saying that we mustn't use a pic with a bug because it had a watermark. There are more people than you think who don't know what a watermark is.
I already admitted that I didn't think the watermark example pic through all the way.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.We could make a custom image, and have a watermark that's a translucent version of the TV Tropes logo.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. Here's a pic of our cat. Someone use Photoshop or something to put a TV Tropes watermark on this and we're good.
Awwwwwww.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.Looks good. I'd say swap it out.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I like it.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.Good for me.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Article is locked so a mod will need to put it up.
I'm fine with that one too.
That's perfect.
Meta Four got it, is there anything else here?

Nope. May wanna add a line like "This is what a watermark looks like" to te previous paragraph or something.

So the page itself says:
So why for the love of god is this paragraph immediately followed by a watermarked image (and not a "fake watermarked image to show what a watermarked image is" kind of image) ?????? Are we that dumb?
Remember people, do as the rule page says, not as the rule page does. Look, I understand wanting to show what IS a watermark, but don't break a copyright to do it! Make an image, put a TV Tropes Watermark as an example.
Note also that Istockphoto forbids their images to be used on websites involved in the sale of merchandise, which TVTropes, now having a store, is
