This is probably the first origin story where the witch made herself green. It works because Zelena is still an antagonist, but it is interesting just to compare her origin with Elphaba's or Theodora's.

WARNING: Spoilers. Minimal, but still Spoilers. And kinda weird. I swear Rumple is the Kavorka Man for this series.

If we want to go Orignal Original, The Wicked Witch was old and ugly and not green at all. She was old and brittle and 'dry' enough from the wickedness in her heart that a bucket of water melted her.
Interesting fact, The 1930s film Oz was storyboarded to show the Ruby Slippers under her bed in the closing shot of the film but it was cut because they believed audiences would find the idea of Oz being real perposterous and absurd.
Anyway, I haven't seen the episode but it sounds like it'll be interesting.
I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing.Despite the fact I'm male, I kinda understand why.
As many people have pointed out, generations of people got the wrong idea about Oz because for once, studio execs had too much respect for the audience's intelligence.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatOddly I remember that shot despite knowing that it does not exist. In my head the slippers are in color even though everything else is still in sepia.
So with only an hour to go before this new ep airs, I finally watched last weeks ep.
Regina removing her own heart to avoid having it snatched was clever. I'm surprised I never considered that.
And it took me a few seconds to realize who the Wizard was, until I saw the poster of the flying monkey. I never considered that, but it's interesting. More to the point, he doesn't really come off as evil. He collects the magic items so that he can give people what they ask for. He said it himself: the things he gives them are real, and he did give Zelena what she asked for. He's actually less of a con man than the classical wizard, who only helped Dorothy out after he was exposed (but did seem sincere about doing so afterwards).
One Strip! One Strip!Looks like old Killian is Hooked on a feeling.
~Ducks a brick~
He also fucked up big time, in more ways than one.
At least Ariel seemed to have a happy ending.
One Strip! One Strip! The wicket witch is now messing with shipping. That's something you can't forgive from a OUAT villian.
All things considered, Hook did get super genre savvy during his confrontation with the witch. It appears the witch is actually scared of Emma.

However, if he had just shut his trap and kept that knowledge to himself, maybe she wouldn't have threatened everyone Emma loved and all that other drama in there. Like, seriously? Why taunt her? A) She could kill you and find a way to do the same plan regardless and B) What do you gain from doing so? Then again, if Hook or anyone else could do that, they'd be on Game of Thrones and not Once Upon a Time.
I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing. One last bit on last weeks episode... The whole wizard/Zelena thing really makes me wonder who actually did help Dorothy?
Regarding this week.... I'm just curious why Killian leaves the Charming's without doing, or saying, anything. If you believe Zelena intends to make good on her threat, she's going to watch until you meet Emma, and when you don't kiss her, Zelena would follow through on the threat. The curse is "the next time your lips touch Emma Swan's" Not "the next time Emma kisses you".
Meh... If Zelena reiterates her threat anytime in the future, and Hook continues to waffle, then this episode demonstrates more of a flash of brilliance, rather than Genre Savvy-ness, with regards to Hook...
Zelena leaned real close to Hook... I wonder whether the curse would have worked if he went forward those 2 centimeters and kissed her. Probably not, since the curse required Emmas name.
Laws are made to be broken. You're next, thermodynamics.I don't remember the wording, but if the kiss transfers the powers to Zelina, the kiss would have done nothing but steal her powers and then return them to her.
I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing.Zelena's motive is that she's jealous of the life Regina had?
I guess you could say that she's...
...green with envy.

...
That's not much of a 'YEEEEAAAAAH!' moment when that's the literal reason she's green on the show. It's been explicitly stated and shown. Nice try though.
Hi, I don't actually watch this (seems very interesting though), but I thought I should drop by from the Frozen thread with news.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver! So here's a thought.
Hypothetically, if events conspired so that Hook and Emma's kiss ended up being a True Love's Kiss, would the curse on Hook be broken before or after it worked on Emma?
Victory! Honor! Destiny! Mutton!I thought of that. It would be a hilarious way to crush the witch's plans.
Hook isn't cursed. But if it was TLK, the curse on Emma would probably break as it started.
Yeah, so Snow's mother was always a bad person, she never changed.
So now that it's revealed that Snow White's mother had something to do with the Wicked Witch being sent away as a baby, I wonder what Snow White will do once they confront her mother, if they go back in time to stop Zelena from murdering Snow White's mother.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Hard to say, but I will say.....Rose Mcgowan looked weird in this ep. Or was it just me?
One Strip! One Strip!I don't know how the describe it but something about those cheekbones have been throwing me off for a long time now, but that might just be me.

Well, let me think...
Original green Witch: No origin, was a dream, didn't really exist.
Wicked: The Wizard slipped her mom something that turned her green in the uterus.
Oz the Great and Powerful: Tricked into eating a cursed apple.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
