It was batshit fucking insane
Weird as hell, but I'll give it another week or two before I decide to follow it or not.
And I could've sworn that we had a page for the show already.

Moral Relativity FTWI agree to the crazy. I don't know if I understand half of everything that's been happening, especially with all those little clues that came in flashes at the beginning.
I agree.
Creepy as fuck.
I can't wait for next week's episode.
Heavy on the horror, light on the story. Felt disjointed, without a clear narrative. One more episode before a y/n vote.
Pretty great. Weird camera angles and direction style, helps the creepiness.
I'm gonna go ahead and call it, this is probably gonna be a Troper favorite, with emphasis on the epileptic trees.
I'm really not a fan of the creators previous works, but I'm still intrigued and I'll give it a shot.
So, is there a tropes page for it? Because I'm sure this show is rife with them already.
I honestly don't know WTF I watched last night, but I loved it.
Sounds interesting...
I'm in for the long run. Love the genre and there's lots packed in here (including lots of homages). If it can keep up the pace, it should be a good one.
No food for the beastmaster. He feeds on the blood of his prey.Closest I can come to accurately describing just what I watched last night is "fascinatingly batshit". I'm not even a big horror movie fan, but I'm in 'til the inevitable cancellation.
I enjoyed the WTF-factor and the constant Narm but I can see it wearing out its welcome really fast.
I think I'm going to start the Trope page for this show. There are easily hundreds of things to be indexed just from watching the first half hour of this show (Adultery! Self-mutilation! Masturbation! Sexy maids! School shootings! Creepy twins!)
Edit: I started a page here. It needs a much better description but I just thought I'd get the ball rolling so feel free to change it.

I'll add a few things to it.
SEXY MAIDS!?
when's the next rerun!? <___<
Direc TV says the next rerun of the pilot is next Wednesday at midnight.
I just watched the first episode.
...
Are they trying to make all of the characters seem like assholes? I mean, everyone seems to be a complete jerk without exception.
Also the constant use of 'language' makes it seem like its trying too hard.
It also seems all over the place in execution.
Like they're trying to set up all the pieces without really spending time on any of them.
It seems too frantic, too bizarre and too vulgar for me
I don't know. I guess I just don't get the genre.
I always find more horror in the surreal than in the overtly bizarre.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireLoved it. If anything I'm confused as to why people think it was so alienating. It's no more bizarre than Community or Buffy or what have you. But I'd follow Frances Conroy into hell. But I like most of the cast, which is unusual. I also found a great deal of them interesting, and Connie Britton's character very sympathetic. They all feel fairly rounded, actually, which is unusual for a pilot.
Could have done with slightly less jump cuts, direction wise, but I felt it set an atmosphere, and a tone for the rest of the series to follow. Pilots are like that though: just because Glee's pilot had complete acapella scoring didn't mean the rest of the series did it all the time. It still continues to do it, only occasionally. Pretty sure it'll be the same thing here.
It's very similar to a lot of other Ryan Murphy projects. There's the big house and psycho-analytic elements of Running With Scissors, and the relationship between the two teens is more than slightly reminiscent of a relationship in that movie too. There's the interest in pregnancy and motherhood, which was in [[Glee]] and Running With Scissors, and divorce, which was in [[Popular]] and [[Glee]]. Plus, a lot of Murphy's work feels very similar. I like it though.
I do wonder how it's going to sustain itself from week to week; it seems like a presence like that house wouldn't have multiple seasons worth of stories. Is it just a mini-series, or what?

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. They said they will change cast every season, apart from some, I think.
That's cool. I hope they're more successful at it than Heroes was. :P
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Watched it. Didn't like the characters, aside from the daughter. I'm certain that everyone is going to do a lot of inexplicably stupid things for the sake of high drama. They were not believable as human beings. The psychiatrist doesn't close his door while he's in a session? And he lets his patients wander through his house instead of escorting them outside himself? That would not happen. If he had an iota of professionalism he would do his best to distance his client from his personal life, which would mean keeping a close eye on the client while they were in his home. And professionalism aside, There is no way that he would not instinctively do everything in his power to keep that psycho away from his daughter.
I think this show has potential. It was raw, emotional, creepy and beautiful, in a way. The only pilot that I've liked of the season so far.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyThis week's episode is amazing. I didn't expect much less from Tim Minear, but it really, really is. There's little to none in the way of clunky dialogue, and there's a genuine attempt at eliciting human characterisation out of Hayden, which is pretty good. There's some really terrific scenes.
And I don't know if anyone's been following the debate recently about misogynistic tones in Arkham City, (or the similar arguments regarding misogynistic tones in this show and the horror genre at large) but Hayden's speech this episode, while a tad Anvillicious did a lot to course correct the tone. Actually, there were some fairly nice sequences for all the women this time around. Nice job show.
Edit: And, oh yeah, it was fucking tense. A few really nice twists, and brilliantly paced. Really satisfying ending too.

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Catching up on this show. I watched the first episode, and I liked it. I really liked the evil old lady. She's horrible, but she's so good at being horrible.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. So the first episode of Asylum made its debut. I'm curious as to what everyone's opinion of it was.
L'idylle est mort.
Aired tonight.
What do you think?
